Maryland receives inaugural Big Ten football schedule, opens at Indiana

The Maryland football team received its inaugural eight-game Big Ten football schedule on Thursday afternoon, heightening the anticipation for a move that won’t even be made for another year.

On Sept. 27, 2014, the Terrapins will play their Big Ten conference game on the road against Indiana. They return home on Oct. 4 to host Ohio State, Byrd Stadium’s marquee visitor that season, before taking a bye. Brutal road trips to Wisconsin, Penn State and Michigan loom large down the stretch.

The full schedule is below. Here’s the home/away Big Ten breakdown:

HOME: Ohio State* (Oct. 4), Iowa (Oct. 18), Michigan State* (Nov. 15), Rutgers* (Nov. 29)

AWAY: Indiana* (Sept. 27), Wisconsin (Oct. 25), Penn State* (Nov. 1), Michigan* (Nov. 22)

*East Division game

Maryland’s all-time record against its 2014 Big Ten opponents is 7-48-1. The Terrapins are 5-4 vs. Rutgers, 1-4 vs. Michigan State, 1-35-1 vs. Penn State, 0-3 vs. Michigan and 0-2 vs. Indiana. They never have played Ohio State, Wisconsin and Iowa.
