Don't really care, and I loved the fights back in the 80's.....Leonard, Hearns, Duran, Hagler. Can't watch it anymore way to violent......love Olympic boxing now, three rounds, head gear and no deaths.

(44,897 posts)I was an avid fan up until the early 2000's.
Maybe the quality of fighters have changed but I
gotta say, once I got hi-def boxing got too realistic.
Too bloody, snotty, bruisy, etc. it seems a lot harder
to enjoy. Plus it seems HBO / Showtime aren't putting
nearly as much effort into their fight programming.

(47,489 posts)Incessant chatter of the talking heads on ESPN and the guys in my office make it a blip on my radar, but that's about it.
I'd rather watch that swimmer guy race a fish.

(29,467 posts)Will actually be more.......these are the basic payouts.
When all the income is added up -- they get paid for more than the fight -- Floyd will get between $300 -350 million; Conor will get over $100 million, possibly up to $200 million.
My cousin is getting the fight, and the boys and I will watch it there. My younger son is going to try to get my house-bound brother (brain damaged from boxing) to come with us. It's curious: the part of his brain that contains boxing knowledge remains, though he sometimes gets the dates wrong for fights that happened before 1970. But even age could cause that.
One of my best buddies said that millions will buy it, secure in knowing that "they'll see one of these assholes get beat up." I do understand why people dislike each of them. I respect both men. And I've talked to Floyd in person, away from the cameras, and found him to have be a totally different man than the one people see. I suppose both are aspects of him. And Conor? Shoot, I grew up in an Irish family of fighters. I "know" him without having ever met him.

Two tough fighters in there. It was interesting to watch.

(4,859 posts)There's no way he should have been that competitive with Mayweather, but he made it a fight. It was a fun fight to watch.
