Mark Cuban and the Mavericks are done playing national anthem before games

After years of heated debates and criticism from all corners of the sports world, the Dallas Mavericks have found a solution.

The team is done playing the national anthem before games.

The Mavericks, owner Mark Cuban told The Athletic on Monday night, have not played the anthem during any of their 13 home games at the American Airlines Center so far this season by design. Only one of those games — Monday’s 127-122 win against the Minnesota Timberwolves — had limited fans in attendance, something that likely allowed the decision to slip under the radar.

The decision, per the report, was not something that the team announced internally. Both Cuban and the Mavericks denied comment to The Athletic about the change. An NBA spokesperson said that “under the unique circumstances of this season, teams are permitted to run their pregame operations as they see fit,” per The Athletic.

Seemed odd to me that sports team play the NA, wave flags, and have military troops parade around.

The only thing worse than having to listen to the national anthem (or as I do actively avoid it) before every damn game is when they do God Bless America...

I've often seen similar claims to the post-9/11 one, but the assertion is false. It started being a regular thing at baseball games in the 1910s. It was being played regularly at hockey and baseball games by the 1930s.

Jets flying low over the crowd to boost nationalism.(Nascar events).

Truth is the Afghan and Iraqi wars required lots of volunteers in the military ranks. This hyper patriotism brought hyper nationalism which helped increase recruitment for the various military services.

Not to say that bush/cheney didn't use hyper national as a political tool too. Remember the American flag on the lapel.
Moving military bases down south. Military recruiters at college campuses. Dwindling private jobs market but thriving military opportunities.

TrDump came along and weaponized nationalism because he was aware there was a hidden base of young white supremacist and fascists that could be cultivated and nurtured into a winning voters base to give him substantial power in his national election efforts.

So patriotism is often not patriotism but rather (white) nationalism and nationalism is often 1a prelude to fascism.

This is why white America became so perturbed and pissed off at Colin Kaepernick. Here is a black man. He had the audacity to take and highjack the white man's high symbol of patriotism the American flag which most folks think is owned by the Republi-Qanon Party. This very same flag that signifies nationalism, white power nationalist, white power fascist nationalism. Well this black dude had the audacity while the white power national anthem was being played to not stand at full attention, but to take a knee giving his allegiance to Black Lives Matter because his brothers and sisters were being habitually and unnecessarily shot and killed.

Of all the nerve how could a black man offend the cherished symbols of white power, white nationalism, the white American flag, the white national anthem, white patriotism, and white fascism.

That was why Colin Kaepernick was ground into the dust by the jack-booted brown shirt Team trDump, the white Fascists, and white Nazis boys.

Don't fuck with white power nationalism and/or white power patriotism - substantial backlash will come your way.
