Flock after flock of robins, cedar wax wings, and grackles are arriving

at the birdbaths this morning. As they squabble, splash and sun themselves, I wonder if some of them are fleeing the war in Ukraine. I envy the bird's ability to live happily in the present moment, even if they did have to encounter the human self-bombardment. They have no worry about the future nor regret the past. As usual, I'm finding all the bird activity calming and entertaining. Birdwatching is much preferable to the blather box today.

I want to be informed of the news in the world but I have to limit the amount of bad news I ingest daily or I become burnt out and depressed. After sending what I can to help Ukraine, I take lots of breaks in the day to find the things that make me grateful.

Is one of the best antidotes to depressing tee vee news, in my humble opinion.

Our yard has lots of trees and the cemetary next door has lots of old growth trees, so we get a lot of migrating birds through here.
