Outdoor Show Reopens Under New Management: The NRA

Last year, organizers of one of the nation's largest outdoor shows tried to ban certain guns in the wake of the killings at Sandy Hook Elementary School. But the industry struck back with a boycott, and the Eastern Sports and Outdoor show was eventually canceled.

This year, it's back and bigger than ever.

Now called the Great American Outdoor Show, it stretches over nearly a million square feet in the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex in Harrisburg. It's also under new management — the National Rifle Association. But that doesn't mean the show is just about guns, says Todd Boyer, who enjoys hunting and came to the show from nearby York, Pa.

"It's not just hunting; it's not just fishing," Boyer says. "It's recreational shooting, it's hunting, it's fishing — everything's included."

The NRA is a right wing organization that works to elect Republicans. Democrats should boycott this gun show in disguise.

The NRA also works to elect pro-gun Democrats. But that is not what the article is about.

The NRA is well-known for helping to elect Republicans and lobbying to pass Republican-backed legislation which weakens our country's gun laws. If any Democrats are considering attending this show, they should be aware that they are funding the NRA.

What have they done for Democrats lately?

Colorado recall elections and insane, rabid attacks on President Obama.

Fuck the right wing NRA!

Bloomberg and Eli Broad each wrote a personal check greater than what the NRA gave. The recall support was grassroots within Colorado because three politicians publicly insulted their constituents. Had they been Republicans, they would have gotten the same treatment. They were in Denver to represent the interest of their constituents, not get campaign funds from Bloomberg who outspent the recall supporters 7-1.
Morse told Rachal Maddow that he ignored the constituents opinions and encouraged others to do the same. Giron talked down to constituents and refused to have a public meeting. The only unfortunate thing is that they were not replaced with better Democrats.

They supported Strickland over Kasich

Colorado recalls: NRA doles out additional $250K with Election Day a week out

A campaign filing report released Tuesday reveals the National Rifle Association has thrown an additional $250,000 into the recalls of Democratic Sens. John Morse and Angela Giron.

The increase of about $141,000 comes a week after the nonprofit’s special issue committee reported spending a total of about $109,000.

Between Aug. 23 and 29 the Fairfax, Va., based nonprofit doled out three large payments of $12,252 on Aug. 27; $52,904 on Aug. 28; and $187,878 on Aug. 29.

It brings the NRA’s total spending to $361,703 in the recall efforts of Morse and Giron, whose political careers are in peril for their support of stricter Colorado gun laws.

although I must correct one thing: Bloomberg gave $350K while Board gave only $250K of their personal money.

The patterns revealed in the reported money are stark: These were races paid for largely by groups outside the state. On the anti-recall side, 79 percent flowed in from out-of-state, largely from big donors such as Bloomberg, who kicked in $350,000 to an issue group Taxpayers for Responsible Democracy. Eli Broad, a California-based philanthropist, gave $250,000 to the same group, which served largely as a vehicle to transfer funds to the campaign committees affiliated with Giron and Morse. Because these were set up as issue committees, there were no limits on donation size. Less than one percent of the cash came from donors of $50 or less.

among which are hunting, sport and recreational shooting. This sounds like what the "old" NRA was all about. What is the problem?
