Pope says women will never be priests

Even the progressive Pope Francis put an exclamation point on the issue of women never being ordained.

Lost cause. If they complain about running out of clergy they can go take a long look in the mirror.

The Catholic Church's ban on female priests will stand forever, Pope Francis said Tuesday. The pontiff made the declaration in response to a female reporter asking whether he thought women would one day serve as Catholic priests and bishops, noting the head of Sweden's Lutheran Church whom Francis met on his trip there is a woman.

"St. Pope John Paul II had the last clear word on this and it stands," Francis said during a news conference aboard the papal plane on the flight back to Rome, according to Reuters.

The reporter then asked "Forever, forever? Never, never?"

"If we read carefully the declaration by St. John Paul II, it is going in that direction," the pope responded.

If you don't like 'em, leave.

Thankfully, decent people are. Leave the church to the homophobic, misogynistic bigots.

Because in the past when that has been said, people have claimed that is anti-Catholic bigotry.

Because this seems like some pretty seriously sexist bullshit coming from the RCC. And also puts a bit of a damper on the "but Francis is SOOOOOOOOOOOO liberal and awesome and progressive that he's going to change the church" talk. And by "bit of a damper" I mean a whole fucking lot.

It's pretty much guaranteed, because the truth hurts and it's the only weapon left for putrid defenders of this archaic and harmful institution.
