stranded in the Philippines

Many people are stranded in the Philippines after domestic air travel has been shut down. Very difficult to get from the provincial cities to Manila or Cebu by other means of transport, effectively preventing many from getting to international airports.

2. fortunately

I am not one of the many people stuck there. My wife's boss, an older woman with family in Bacolod City, went for a short visit. She is fine, but unable to return to Hawaii. What Duterte has done is isolate Metro Manila by stopping all traffic in or out, by air, sea, or land. No word yet on how they will handle the foreign tourists with short term visas. Really a mess for everyone, and may actually put more people at risk.
