Bill Clinton Reached Peak White Mansplain in a Face-Off Against Black Lives Matter Protesters

Bill Clinton filled in for his wife and presidential hopeful Hillary Clinton at a rally in Philadelphia, where he proceeded to clash with protesters from the Black Lives Matter movement in a way that can only be categorized as “peak cis white mansplain.” The incident, which took place on April 7, began when Clinton addressed a group of BLM demonstrators situated near the podium, many of whom held homemade signs festooned with anti-Hillary slogans. Many of the messages, like “Hillary Clinton Is A Murder” [sic] and “Black Youth Are Not Super Predators” alluded to the former president’s 1994 crime bill—Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act—which has since been held responsible for a rise in mass incarceration rates. According to Reuters, ten years after the bill was passed into law, “6 percent of all black men in their 30s were in prison, a rate six times higher than that of white men of the same age,” with 1.56 million prisoners overall incarcerated in federal or state institutions. ... Bill's half baked non-apology seems to be getting him nowhere fast.

3. This needs to be put in front of every NY black voter possible.
Hillary's (inexplicable) advantage among AAs evaporates the more people find out about her and Bullhorn Bill.

4. William Clinton is quite proud of his (unearned) popularity
among minority voters. When Clinton is confronted with the truth it upsets his fantasy.

5. Uh... Let's just get it out there so everyone can make their own mind up.
This message isn't targeted to people based on their race. It's just putting the facts out there.

8. No they have a general rule against it.
They may occasionally express regret that somebody took something the wrong way.

owed so many apologies

10. Bill couldn't even bring himself to apologize to the American public for Monica Lewinsky
He started out as if it was going to be an apology and quickly turned defiant, working his way to: "It's nobody's business but ours. Even Presidents have private lives."
And then after the outcry over his defiant demeanor and words in that video, he tried to do another one at a prayer breakfast and still couldn't, despite the inaccurate title of this YouTube video. No apology in that one either. He says he wants people to know that "the sorrow I feel is genuine" and then goes through a list including his family, his Cabinet members, Monica Lewinsky and the American people. If I do something, get caught and publicly humiliated, does "the sorrow I feel is genuine" constitute an apology? Of course not. Has Hillary Clinton ever apologized for her Iraq War vote, or for anything else she has ever done? I have never seen a Clinton apologize for anything. |
