It was a foregone conclusion rabid Hilfans would shit the bed with this Vatican thing
For a week they've been vociferously projecting their fantasies as reality. I've noticed it's kinda their thing.

pedophile protecting establishment they are now fawning over.
Pretty sure we can count on anyone supporting Clinton to be swiftly thrown under the nearest bus while those who endorse Sanders get put upon pedestals. I have zero respect for the church I left when I became an adult. For really good reasons. |

28. Rightly so.
Like I said, I left the church when I became an adult for very good reason.
I wouldn't like Hillary making this move. It always makes my stomach turn when any politician brings their religion into politics. Be they Democrats, republicans, greens, independents etc. The right wingers have built their entire party around religion and using religion to curb the freedoms of others. Not an organization I can embrace in any way. However, it wouldn't stop me from voting for Bernie. But I have posts from ten years ago where I am screaming to keep religion out of my politics. This isn't a new stance nor do I think a hypocritical one for me. |

39. Respecting the catholic church
something I've never done, and respecting Pope Francis as a really good man who is not the norm for the Vatican, are two totally different things.
I don't put Pope Francis or Sanders on a pedestal, but I do respect both of them for the issues they are fighting for (not all of the Popes issues, but those that are in sync with Sanders' issues). Do you really think the Catholic church will or even can change overnight because of one radical Pope? They have been against social progress for too long, and it's entrenched in the way they interpret the Bible. The only way they will probably change on major issues that go against their interpretation of the Bible, is after years of radical Popes pushing for change and many catholics leaving the church because society is so far beyond it...that is exactly why Pope francis is making small gestures like accepting gays in the church (not accepting that their lifestyle is OK). This Pope is pushing tiny changes socially (which is far better than previous Popes), but I give him credit for pushing major changes economically, and trying to change our outlook on profit/greed/money and helping the poor. Also, this has nothing to do with religion on Bernie's part. If he was a catholic, I'd say maybe you had something there. He is doing this for the same reason he's running for President. Because of the issues addressed at the conference, and promoted by the Pope. |

30. Seriously! OBSESSION! I say Get Over It! Bernie Sanders wasn't invited to speak at Goldman Sachs!
You don't see the Bernie Sanders people complaining and making stupid remarks about why. Bernie Sanders wasn't invited or how Hillary Clinton had to bribe Goldman Sachs to be able to give them a speech!
Pope Francis can't afford Clinton's expensive dinners Or donations to their foundation. He knows all about their politics. Hey I haven't been a practicing Catholic for years but I do like Pope Francis and I am delighted that Bernie Sanders was recognized by him, if even in the smallest way, because it shows that Pope Francis has noticed who Bernie Sanders is and what Bernie Sanders stands for. |

That is my thought.
And I agree with you on the rest of your post. It is interesting to see how H supporters have sunk in my list of people I can get along with. I am finding gun toting libertarians more inviting to spend time with. At least with them, they actually have a moral code that they adhere to. |
