MSNBC's Joy Ann Reid Horrified By Sanders Supporters Throwing Dollar Bills At Hillary

JOY ANN REID: Bernie Sanders supporters throwing dollar bills at the motorcade of Hillary Clinton as she was going to the George Clooney fund-raiser. We're going to roll that video in a second. Just the idea of that, and people went on twitter afterwards. You can see the video there. People throwing dollar bills as if in a strip club.

This coming on the heels of a Bernie Sanders surrogate having to apologize for using the term "democratic [corporate] whores" at the Washington Square Park rally.

That visual there, of throwing dollar bills at a woman as she's going by in her motorcade, has the Democratic race gone over the edge?

3. That's just projection by the whores that are the corporate media.

Dollar bills being thrown by supporters to make the point that Hillary is about the Benjamin...

...and they go straight for whore reference, and not even the asexual meaning but jump further to a "stripper" reference.

That's on them.

Sometimes throwing one dollar bills for the cameras is just making a statement about bought and paid for politicians.

It took special effort to go all the way out to "strippers".

Is there some feature, some attribute or quality that exempts her from media whoredom?

Have I missed something she's done by way of, say, championing human rights?

Funny part is that I don't have cable, I use digital broadcast, so don't watch MSNBC and don't follow Joy Reid.

Now I've given them a chance to tell me what Joy Ried might have done to earn more respect, but I suspect that there won't be any descriptions of such forthcoming.

That she or he works for MSNBC does nothing for me, nothing at all.

But yet you're on here running your mouth like you're some kind of expert. Well, here are the cliff notes: she's a Harvard educated African American woman and she is hands down, one of the best debaters and most informed contributors on [strike]MSNBC[/strike] television. And that's both before and after your candidate threw his hat in the ring. But by all means, please proceed with your attacks.

Let's review:

Ted Cruz went to Harvard. Condi Rice is woman and AA. Glenn Beck is on television.

So, tell me, what part of Harvard, blackness, femaleness, or being a debater and television person make Joy Reid our friend?

Or, maybe it's the magic combination of all four???

"...at a WOMAN as she's going by in a motorcade". (As if a motorcade is just like a stripper and as if all them men and women along the street were just like men at stripclubs)

What cheap bullshit. How is this in any way like a strip club?

"Plus the fact that this is a 60 plus year old woman".

Yanno, whatever creds Joy Reid might have had going into this piece, she just shot them all to hell with these cheap shots.

Like how if you criticized him at ALL period....because he was a Black man, well you're surely just being racist. Yes, legitimate critiques of him were not allowed.
Granted with this just based on throwing money, they can argue the very LOOSE argument(in this case), that it is sexist because it involves a woman despite the real visual. It's not Hillary in her underwear, with people stuffing bills in that area...rather it's them throwing bills at a MOTORCADE. What Joy Reid is doing is called reaching and it's a reach most people except for Mr.Fantastic would be uncomfortable in regards to.
Ms.Reid should be ashamed of herself as she knows what she is doing is wrong.

7. Alright let's be serious for a Sec. Psychological effects of stuff like this.

Throwing around the word sexist, for something that truly isn't sexist is not good.
In cases like this, which is clearly about money in politics we know it's wrong, We certainly know those protesters feel it's wrong to have money in politics.

They are okay with being against money in politics, yet now they are labeled as sexist.
Do you think they'll take sexist complaints seriously later? No, because they were wrongly accused of it. Instead the next time something is labeled sexist they'll be thinking
"Oh what is it this time? Is this actually sexist?"

And the more and more people yell sexist at things that aren't really sexist. The less they take it seriously.

Real sexism should be taken seriously. This was clearly about money in politics, further more.

Stereotyping Strippers as having money just thrown at them IS Actually Sexist.

the $$ bills represent money in politics - money that billary's campaign so readily takes and demands from corporate interests.

for extra points from your boss and to disparage the 99%, you to the liberty to twist it into something far from the intent the protestors. of course, you are free to view it as you did - which says a whole lot more about you.

time to take a good long look in the mirror, joy reid. maybe even take some time off. you are perilously close to the edge of becoming everything you once stood against - or, perhaps not. is this what you have been all along?

10. "Striking for that to be coming from liberals"

That's the thing: Quite a few of Bernie's supporters are not liberals. I think some of them--the ones fueling the BernieBros phenomenon--are would-be libertarians/ republicans who happen to like Bernie's message. That's a success for Bernie, as he's spent many years trying to court that type into voting with progressives.

The problem is, in addition to their votes and temporary alliance with democrats, they bring certain values and behaviors with them. Behaviors and belief systems that I find disgusting. I've never seen anything like this in our party--the cyber bullying of surrogates and superdelegates, the sexism, racism, and hateful anti-democratic screeds.

Also, liberals would NEVER in a million years consider voting for Trump.

The "news" today is worth being upset over -- it ain't news, it's part of the propaganda machine.

But let me play along for a moment. OK, so you weren't upset. But you are defending the right of a newscaster to smear an entire segment of the public by basically equating them with strip joint enthusiasts on national television. So in essence, in my view, you are defending MSMs practice of propagandizing as opposed to objectively reporting on the news. What Joy Reid said and did is no worse than what one expects from Faux News. And you condone it.

If that is acceptable to you, then you have a serious lack of self-esteem. How's that? Better?

even the basics of American politics. Much of that money raised by Clinton is going to other candidates who will be on ballots across the country in November. She is doing what she is supposed to be doing. Sanders is acting like a jackass and living in a dream world if he thinks it's "wrong" to raise money for campaigns. 40. It's about who you are taking money from and what kind of policies you support for them

It's obvious Hillary is taking money for herself, not to do better for the rest of us, so she can have power and wealth and the White House again. She knew she would run again and still took these speaking engagements and bundles of cash from the too big to fail banks. She might say cut that out again if they crash again.

She can't wait to get in the White House and return to going to war. A no fly zone on the Russians? That's a step towards war. Her number 1 enemy Iran so she can go to war with them on the side of Israel and Netanyahu. Did Kissinger advise her on that, more neocon shit. The military industrial complex will be nicely fed.

Having all sorts of African American friends after calling their children super preditors. Supporting the crime bill to fill up prisons and taking money from the for profit prison industry. Running a racist campaign against Obama. And pretending to be so close to him now.

She's not someone I trust in the presidency, she's an opportunist of the worse sort.

It has nothing to do with strippers or prostitution. It's to symbolize excessive wealth and greed. Anyhow you don't throw bills at strippers; you stuff them in their g-strings. You don't throw them at prostitutes, either; you leave them on the nightstand.

The biggest question I have is how whores are suddenly interchangeable with strippers. Just because someone strips for a living doesn't mean their sexual favors are for sale. Some women can't find other work and are lucky enough to have bodies people might want to look at. That doesn't mean they're prostitutes and any dollars thrown are more akin to a tip given to a waiter.

42. "That visual there, of throwing dollar bills at a POLITICIAN..."

There y'go, Joy. I fixed it for you.

Although, if you want to go down that road, you probably should have added "and everyone who doesn't unconditionally support Hillary is a sexist pig and deserves to spend eternity in hell" just to catapult the message.

46. Yeah, that was pretty jaw-droppingly idiotic behavior. They lost a lot of votes on that one.

52. Raising $15 million in a couple of closed fundraisers isn't an outrage

But throwing dollar bills at the candidate who does that kind of thing is. Welcome to the consequences of Bill Clinton's Telecommunications Act and 25 years of Clintons working the corporate media.

55. Reid was filling in for Mark Thompson yesterday on "Make It Plain". I couldn't listen after

hearing how she talked down to every Sanders supporter. I use to listen to the show often, but I rarely do anymore.

57. Crap...they are trying to twist this

into sexist behavior.

It is because of her money taking, money laundering, ways.

I am beginning to disown the "feminist" label if they are all going to act like pearl clutchers.

corporate puppet.

62. Bought and sold politicians get Billions of dollars thrown at them every week.

but to Hillary supporters, strippers (real women who don't deserve to be ridiculed and pushed forward as an example of "the low life of society" who make a middle class living in a world where this is one of the few jobs that women can make more than men, are the first thing that comes to mind when money is thrown at a politician known for taking vast wads of money from Wall St.

Yes, there is sexism here .. but it's coming from the Hillary camp. They need to apologize to strippers for making them out to be 'low life scum' that Hillary is 'unfairly' being compared to.

Did anyone from the Hillary camp bother to go talk to some strippers and ask them if they felt that protest was an insult to strippers? Of course not ... fuck, they didn't even check their 1980's meme of $1 bills and strippers to see if it actually made any sense in today's world ... millennial are probably thinking ... is that something my grandpa says, like when he talks about telegraphs and record players?

If for some reason I was ever angry at a stripper I might compare her to Hillary.
