Sanders downsizes his campaignFollowing a series of disappointing finishes, the Vermont senator tightens his belt.
By GABRIEL DEBENEDETTI 04/29/16 06:33 PM EDT
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. After months of spending an unparalleled amount on campaign operations across the country and regularly outspending Hillary Clinton on ad expenditures, Bernie Sanders is tightening his belt.
The campaign slashed the payroll Wednesday by axing hundreds of workers primarily on the field organizing team scaling the staff down to its smallest size in months. It downsized its campaign jet, even as the Burlington, Vermont-based candidate spends increasing amounts of time hopping from coast to coast. Top aides no longer travel everywhere with the candidate, choosing instead to stick to Washington and Vermont. Even Sanders' wife, Jane, hasnt been traveling with him, opting to play the main surrogate role from home. On Thursday, the campaign cut its ad spending in Indiana, the next battleground state on the calendar.

The truth is that the Clinton campaign is terrified by the 12 upcoming primaries, especially the one in California. That's why there's an obsession with the total of paid Sanders staffers. Just as they tried (and failed) by limiting debates, the Clintonites are doing their best to marginalize Bernie.

(143,999 posts)I am amused by the Sanders supporters and republicans praying for an indictment http://www.msnbc.com/rachel-maddow-show/waiting-clinton-indictment-dont-hold-your-breath
The examination, which included cases spanning the past two decades, found some with parallels to Clintons use of a private server for her emails, but in nearly all instances that were prosecuted aggravating circumstances that dont appear to be present in Clintons case.
The relatively few cases that drew prosecution almost always involved a deliberate intent to violate classification rules as well as some add-on element: An FBI agent who took home highly sensitive agency records while having an affair with a Chinese agent; a Boeing engineer who brought home 2000 classified documents and whose travel to Israel raised suspicions; a National Security Agency official who removed boxes of classified documents and also lied on a job application form.
Politicos examination seems to have only been able to find one person who sincerely believes Clinton will face prosecution: former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani (R), who was a prosecutor and a Justice Department official before his partisan antics made him something of a clownish joke.
Among more objective observers, the idea of Clinton facing an indictment seems, at best, implausible. This is very much in line with a recent American Prospect examination, which reached the same conclusion.
TPMs Josh Marshall published a related piece in February, after speaking to a variety of law professors and former federal prosecutors about the Clinton story. To a person, Josh wrote, they agreed the idea of a Clinton indictment is very far-fetched.

(8,812 posts)Why are Clinton supporters devoting so much time to silencing or marginalizing Bernie instead of promoting the issues that Hillary stands for?
Could it be that drawing attention to Hillary's stance on the issues is bad for her?

Why would you want to discourage millions of voters from expressing their opinions?
