2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumCould convention delegates choose Elizabeth Warren as a Consensus Candidate?
In other words, could Democrats pull a Paul Ryan-type scenario if Hillary falls short of a majority of pledged delegates? Lets say both Hillary and Bernie fall short of pledged delegates, but there is a deadlock among the superdelegates? Does the vote then go to a second ballot where delegates can simply vote their conscience even picking someone who did not run in the primaries?

(35,619 posts)...for all the Super Delegates to vote for Elizabeth Warren on the first ballot, so that neither Clinton nor Sanders gets a majority, and then for everyone to vote for Elizabeth Warren on the second ballot so that she's the nominee.
However, I don't predict that.

(2,760 posts)It's impossible for both candidates to fall short of a majority of PDs.
