Joe Biden took months to decide he wouldnt run for president but he was sold on Elizabeth Warren as his running mate from the start, people familiar with the situation told POLITICO.
And he still thinks the Massachusetts firebrand would be Hillary Clintons best choice to replace him as the nations No. 2 in January 2017.
And Warren hasnt entirely resisted the suggestion in part, because it gives her leverage to influence Clintons potential staffing decisions in the Treasury Department and financial oversight boards.
On Wednesday, the 66-year-old former Harvard Law professor refused to rule out accepting an offer to join Clinton on the 2016 ticket, employing the kind of non-answer answer shes used throughout much of the campaign to stay above the fray.

Warren to the delight of Clintons staff has recently trained her fire on Donald Trump, a move that many Clintonites interpret as evidence that the darling of the Democrats anti-establishment wing might be willing to accept Clinton, despite the front-runners deep and lucrative connections to the New York financial services sector.

(14,255 posts)any more. I understand, in a way, but this would be a grievous loss to the Senate, and, of course, would delight the Third Way (remember? In the WSJ they felt compelled to write an entire article/opinion wad on how Warren "is getting out of hand"?) immeasurably.
Hillary would not change any of her pro-Wall Street, hawk, Third Way stances, and Warren would be attending dinners and funerals, after having served her purpose as, basically, live bait for Bernie's supporters.
