2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHillary is the MUCH BETTER general election candidate, and here is why:
Again, Bernie basically has a good heart and is well meaning. I have said this over and again. I agree with most of his goals. I applaud him for all he has accomplished (though I do not like the narrative that all things are "rigged" and "corrupt" which just isn't so).
The plain hard facts are that Hillary Clinton WILL be the nominee because her lead is insurmountable, and she is the MUCH stronger GENERAL ELECTION candidate regardless of what any polls at the point may say. This is because MANY people don't yet know all of Bernie's baggage. He hasn't been fully vetted, and he hasn't had to withstand the ENDLESS barrage of negative ads that would tear him to pieces.
The R's would run "Socialist/Communist" ads night and day. From all his years on and off unemployment, to baggage with his wife's tenure at the college in Vermont, to the time he wrote that silly sexual story, to his past praise of Castro and the Sandinistas, to many of his past votes, to the high costs of his policy ideas, and on and on and on, they would have a FIELD DAY tearing him apart, and his poll numbers would PLUMMET.
Hillary is battle-tested. The public knows her very well. She has already been attacked for 25 years. She has already been well vetted. And she and her team are better prepared to respond to attacks and GO ON OFFENSE against the lunatic racist who is Trump. And there it is.
