Never Mind Trump, GOP Uniting Under Banner: 'Never Hillary'

Never Mind Trump, GOP Uniting Under Banner: 'Never Hillary'

WASHINGTON — Donald Trump's best ally in winning over skeptical Republicans is turning out to be Hillary Clinton.

Having overcome a multimillion-dollar "Never Trump" campaign aimed at blocking him from the Republican nomination, he's now benefiting from a wave of GOP donors, party leaders, voters and conservative groups that are uniting under a new banner: "Never Hillary."

"Nothing unites Republicans better than a Clinton," says Scott Reed, a political strategist for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce who has advised previous GOP campaigns. While Reed says there remain "many unknowns" about Trump, he adds that "the knowns about Hillary are very powerful motivators to Republicans."...

Explains Trumps recent surge vs. Hillary, and why Sanders consistently beats Trump, while Hillary does not. She 's basically the only candidate who could unite the GOP and give Trump the WH.

Well done, Dems.

I was going to post it myself until I did a search and saw that you posted it first.

But yeah, let me tell you what you meant and follow it up with a swipe at Sanders and a "LOL." Mom will be so proud of my wit!

It happens a hundred times a day on DU, so welcome to the club.

Anyway...

This is some serious business, I have been saying it all along, and the movement to silence Clinton's critics and "rally behind" her because we cannot allow Trump to become President is seriously flawed, because we have a weak candidate who is neither liked nor trusted by many of Sanders' supporters, and it would be completely foolish and naive and fatal to underestimate how much she is loathed by Republicans (and others).

This is something different. We cannot be in a state of denial about how America sees Clinton.

This is going to be an unholy jihad, and I hope Ms. Clinton is prepared to go into battle with something more substantial than her usual "Fuck you, I'm not going to answer that" attitude.

And you know why?

Because if she doesn't reply to the dump truck full of monkey poo Trump is prepared to throw at her, he will answer for her, and far too many voters will believe him.

Have we not witnessed enough of his bullshit to know exactly how he plays the game?

It's Karl Rove / Lee Atwater 101. You define the playing field, and keep your opponent on an non-stop game of offense. It's what they did to John Kerry. It's what they are going to do to Clinton, but in a much more savage manner.

I merely pointed out that you would have to be naive and foolish to think that the GOP would not unite around "Never a Socialist" if Sanders had won. That's what Republicans do. In that sense, your thread holds little value which is usually the case when a thread is motivated by animosity. Sorry but the truth is the truth.

Seriously, how CAN she?

We've had some OP's around these parts that have had posters expressing how she can win them over. They're such utter fantasy/demand dreams that show a complete disconnect from reality. The folks like that DO NOT WANT TO BE WON OVER and make sure that others know that it's impossible to win them over.

So what CAN she do? I don't believe there's anything she can for a good percentage of them.

I said nothing about pretending that she doesn't need Sanders supporters behind here.

And you say "our" like I'm not a Sanders supporter. I am, I've voted for him. I'll vote for him in the GE. But I'll also vote for her in the GE because I have not and will never sit out a presidential election and I will never, ever, vote for Trump or modern day Republicans.

We know she can't for many because of the IWR vote, which is totally valid.

began to retaliate after a while. I remember during the first Dem. Primary debate,
Sanders even defended Clinton with his remark about being fed up of listening to
criticisms of her e-mail scandals. She appreciated his support, but never did she
return in kind. Dealing with her means dealing with a one-way street. She must
have all the advantages. Doesn't she realize that this sort of attitude in life can
only do her more harm than good? Apparently not!

Blinders are worn by the ones that love her. They refuse to see how many hate her. People are as sick of the Clinton name as they are the Bush name. Those brands are outdated, outmoded. It is time to move on.
