(259 posts)Voter turnout is far lower for caucuses and they are clearly less representative.
It is time to abandon the less democratic caucus system
Most of us know that a caucus is the least democratic system, right? Yet, has there been any outcry from "process whining" Bernie folks? No, of course not, since this less democratic "process" favored Sanders. This is the same old hypocrisy from "just another politician".
Someone on another forum suggested that Clinton's 3 million popular vote lead over Sanders should be totally discounted because the Sanders advantage in caucus states is not really reflected in the vote totals. But actually, it probably is.
For example, It is highly probable that Bernie would have been even farther behind in popular vote if caucus states were turned into primary states. This is demonstrated by the results of two states, Washington and Nebraska, where Bernie won the state caucuses but lost in the primaries.
If the Washington state primary votes were counted instead of the caucus votes, Hillary would have gained an additional 144,000 national votes over Bernie.
