http://www.kaine.senate.gov/issues/gun-safetyIt seems very clear to me that Hillary is going to go full throttle in tackling this. Kaine is a solid pick in this fight.

There was a lot about him I didn't know, but as time as gone on tonight and the amount of material I have read...he is a surprisingly good pick.

Thanks for the insight.
And yeah, that is magic. Or a very keen way of delivering common sense.

(2,493 posts)Kaine is a gun owner himself and his statements on gun control should shut down the notion that the NRA is trying to sell that Hillary wants to "take your guns." He couldn't be much clearer that the Second Amendment protects the individual right to keep and bear arms subject to reasonable restrictions:
I strongly support Americans right to bear arms. As a lawyer I fought to constitutionally protect the right of all Virginians to hunt and fish and I respect the rights of responsible gun owners, like myself, in Virginia and across the nation.
This is exactly the message that Democrats need to promote regarding the Second Amendment.

(7,906 posts)There is no reason to snark here. I realize you are disappointed, but if you truly do care about the 99%, snark is not going to help.

(34,204 posts)But I do recognize that a great harm could happen with a Trump presidency so I'll vote for Democratic party nominee.
Go HillTim!

(7,906 posts)the right to bear arms, and common sense gun control.
If you want to fight a battle to take away that right, well, that's not going to happen overnight, if at all. The challenge here is to make sure that background checks are enforced. It's oh so simple, and complete common sense, yet it is a struggle to get laws passed.
Pleading and voting to take away that right, is not the way to go. You will lose every time.

(6,444 posts)We need to work to reduce gun violence by for example getting guns out of the hands of known violent felons while protecting the right of law abiding gun owners to keep and bear arms. That's exactly what Kaine supports and I'm glad we have a candidate who will protect Second Amendment rights, along with many other civil rights.
