1. Yes, and Rachel made way too much out of that.

3. I didn't hear Rachel, but I heard him call himself
a boy. Maybe that's how he sees them from the distance of half a lifetime. I have to stop myself from calling millennials "kids." He was 29 when they got married, Hillary 27. Just kids.
So what's her problem? ![]() |

4. She seemed to find an issue with the words girl and boy. Well I have a husband I love to bits
who calls me his girl, we are of that generation and got married at about that age. She needs to calm down. Even Brian Williams was trying to calm her down last night. You should google it.

16. :) Hope Bill and Hillary are close and
genuinely happy together after all these years. They have so much in common, partners in a lifelong work they're both passionate about, and parents and grandparents together. There has to be a lot more to their marriage than the cardboard characterizations of the public eye.

9. Rachael Maddow is awesome, but loses perspective occasionally
A good chunk of her life revolves around analyzing politics, so it's not too surprising.

14. I am in my forties, and we say "girl" and "boy" all the time to refer to ourselves in our twenties
My husband and I say "we were kids" and "boy" and "girl" all the time to refer to ourselves at that time. I believe I am the same age as Rachel (we are also from California), and I have no idea why she was complaining about an excellent speech. Honestly it just seems ridiculous to me. Even our conservative friends liked the speech -- ESPECIALLY the love story aspect.
I also call millenials kids! |

2. I loved that line & I'd be willing to bet...
that Hillary did also. Rachel is not wrong often but she is on this one.

6. It was great.
I joked, "Of course he's starting his speech about chasing a girl," and my wife said, "It's SWEET!"
I think Rachel Maddow is underestimating how endearing the speech actually is to both sexes. He's her spouse. He needed to tell a love story. 2012 speaking on behalf of Obama was the time for a wonky, economic speech. Bill Clinton is flawed, but damn it, a lot of people love him. And in so many words, he said, "She's the one you *really* need to love." |

8. It was the classic boy meets girl story. It was sweet and it was his personal remembrance.
Maddow was really upset that Hillary's husband still seemed to love her very much, and she was beyond angry that Bill portrayed the softer side of her as a normal human being.

...she is really missing the boat on this one.

12. Yes. I was hoping he'd begin at that point exactly -- when they met as young, idealistic
law school students. I'd heard enough about their story to know it would show a side of her people needed to know.
He made us see her through his loving eyes -- and that was the job he was supposed to do. Good for Bill. |

And everyone else loved it.
