How Democrats can do very well in 2014:

Last edited Sat Nov 9, 2013, 08:58 AM - Edit history (5)

FRAME THE TEAPUBLICANS AND RUN ON THE ISSUES STRONGLY, FORCEFULLY, AND WITH CONVICTION AND RAZOR SHARP CLARITY. MAKE IT A VALUES-BASED MESSAGE.

Look at ANY issue, and we win. WE are with the majority, and often the LARGE majority.

* Economy: People want investment in public infrastructure, small business tax incentives, etc.
* Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid: These are hugely popular.
* Minimum Wage: People want it increased.
* Education: People want to invest in it at all levels and college made more affordable.
* Immigration: People want to reform it with a path to citizenship.
* Environment: People want it clean and livable, and they believe global warming is real.
* Energy: People want investment in clean renewable energy.
* Women's Rights: People want them advanced and protected.
* LGTB Rights: People want them advanced and protected.
* Taxes: People want them lowered on the poor and middle classes and raised on the rich.
* Deficit/Debt: People want them reduce these by taxing the rich and corporations more and cutting the military and corporate subsidies.
* HealthCare: People want it UNIVERSAL and cheaper.
* Gun Control: People support full background checks and more investment in mental health treatment.
* GOOD GOVERNANCE: The people want good governance, proactive problem solving, SANITY, and reasonable compromise. We are for it and the R's think compromise is a dirty word. (Like it or not, unless we can get massive majorities, there does have to be some amount of compromise in governing in most areas and levels.)

Poll and after poll after poll shows that the majority, and often a supermajority, of people are with US on the issues. We need to frame the R's as what they are: being UNFIT TO GOVERN, for the greedy rich, extreme and tribal-like on every issue and unwilling to compromise, out of tune, out of touch, and out of time.

The younger generations and coalitions that elected Obama, and McAuliffe the other night, and Bill D'blasio in NY the other night need to be inspired and energized with strong, powerful, forceful, populist messaging and framing that will bring them out. This is especially true in places like Ohio, Florida, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, and Maine where we can take down the TeaBag governors that got in back in 2010.

The R's are going to claim that the economy is still sluggish and ObamaCare is a failure so they should be elected. And what will they offer for an alternative? The same old same old trickle down crap and no real healthcare plan. Dems need to go on OFFENSE right in their FACES and say: You people are running on removing healthcare and giving tax cuts to the rich? THAT is what you are offering? You are OUT OF TIME ! You are DONE ! You are the party of SHUTDOWN and JOB DESTRUCTION and UNFIT TO GOVERN !

In other words, TAKE THE FIGHT TO THEM AND STAY ON OFFENSE ! They did it in NY and VA and it worked. Obama's team did it to Romney last year. CLARITY, BOLDNESS, AND GOING ON OFFENSE WORK.

4. Being strong on the issues will help get them out. It is about VALUES. Frame it like that.

We value ALL people and the planet. They value the rich and little else.

It is a base election, and we need to turn out the base, starting with a STRONG progressive-populist message.

2. I think the DNC should focus on Women like a laser.

And apply each of those issues with women in mind.

The 'War on Women' is a tangible, provable thing.

6. Exactly right especially in off year cycles when Dems and Progressives tend to not vote as much.
