CNN does craven hatchet piece on Hoboken Mayor

In what CNN presents as a news article, NOT an opinion piece, "CNN Investigative Reporter" Chris Frates posted a sensationalistic hatchet job full of unsupported hyperbole but no new facts.

The screaming headline is "First on CNN: Christie scandal mayor full of contradictions." Frates just rehashes what has already been reported elsewhere about how Zimmer had stated "early on" that she had no reason to believe the withholding of Sandy relief funds was retribution.

Then he makes the ridiculously untrue assertion that "Every time she told the story, the number of people she implicated in the pressure campaign grew."

Chris Frates came to CNN on September 25, 2013, after having worked at Politico. It shows.

Wonder who got Frates/CNN to post this nonstory on the day responses to the NJ legislature's subpoenas were due?

9. Ummm

Ted Turner has little or nothing to do with CNN anymore. Yes, he founded it and was probably the guy responsible for creating the 24/7 news cycle but he stepped out of the CNN thing a looong time ago. I'm sure he's a stock holder but that's about it, he doesn't do much with his charitable foundations anymore either. He's actually a really cool and progressive guy, if you knew him you'd be surprised to realize that all the bad-mouthing media hype about him is actually just hype.

Can't blame him for that kind of stuff. Besides, he is pretty disappointed about what CNN has become, heard him say so in person quite some time ago, and they have only gone careening further down that slope since then.

Now Candy Crowley, well, she's fair game as are her producer/editors.

3. Yeah, too bad(for them) cnn has built such a reputation as a

teabagger-koch gopropaganda outlet. They've ruined themselves.

4. Yup, they lost 39% of their audience in January.

They really need to rethink their move from breaking news to Fox lite.

7. I read it and it ticked me off.

The piece is exactly what you said, his opinion and not an investigative report.

12. I too read it and was outraged. It really cemented their position as Fox Jr. The right wing wants to

take media outlets watched by independents and middle of the roaders and quietly move the message far right. When they pull stunts like this their agenda becomes quite clear.
