President Obama received 125K more votes last night in NC than Mitt Romney did?

Also, about 5K more democrats voted for governor than did republicans.

Pretty remarkable given that the NC gubernatorial race is wide open-no incumbent.

The bad news is that 20% of democratic voters picked "no preference" rather than Pres Obama. BUT he still beat Romney.

and with his announcement today, there could well be many fewer democrats that vote FOR Mr. Obama than before.

PS--
I'm sorry about Amendment I. Me and my wife voted against.

759K votes for Barack (959K votes in D Pres primary, 927K votes in D Gub primary)
635K votes for Willard (967K votes in R primary, 891K votes in R Gub primary)

In NC, indies can vote in either the D or R primary, so it's hard to parse some of these numbers without a careful tally

I doubt that his coming out in favor of Gay marriage did much to change things. How many anti-gay voteres were going to vote for Obama after he trashed Don't Ask, Don't Tell, and refused to defend DOMA? He likely comes out a wash on this.
