Our voters better wake up - 2014 should be looked at as a McConnell-Obama Presidential election

I like the minimum wage issue but to win we need the middle-class voters in large numbers.

Our base, sorry to say, have been very apathetic and unreliable and we need independent voters.

GOP obstruction and shutdown talks will decimate middle-class 401K and IRA and other retirement portfolios and no one wants to talk about it. We need this as a talking point to attract them.

If this is run as a McConnell vs Obama Presidential campaign, "fake" moderate GOP in the US West and Northeast could be defeated. But, Democrats are all caught up with "saving the Senate seat in Arkansas" strategy. In the process, they are being decimated elsewhere.

Of course, our base could vote? How can Florida Governor race be close? That Tea Party Governor put roadblocks for black voters there in 2012. African-American President is being politically abused and disrespected. Why apathy? What is our base in Florida doing?

ahead of President Obama despite the "47%" video. Come election day, it wasn't even close.

Polls will tell us what their buyers want them to tell us. But you're right, the "GOP obstruction and shutdown talks will decimate middle-class 401K and IRA and other retirement portfolios" should be the main meme coming from Democrats. Nothing pisses off an American more than threatening to take away their money and hopes of retiring comfortably. Just have a look at all the winning campaigns - and those who have lost - and their memes.

Threaten to kill social security for everyone? You're a goner. Threaten to take away medicare (like the GOP underhandedly told the American people in 2010)? You ain't got a snowball's chance to win. Threaten to kill jobs and their livelihood? You're out.

Money makes the world go round, but especially with those who aren't swimming in it, and they're the largest demographic in this country. Democrats should be winning all elections - even those in gerrymandered districts - if they'd only focus on economics and our social safety net - and make sure that the American voter understands that voting for a Republican is voting to kill your social security benefits, your medicare, your good-paying job. This is the tactic that the GOP use toward the end when most Americans are paying attention. This is the tactic Democrats should be using to trounce their Republican opponents since Democratic policies are superior to Republican policies when it comes to personal economics.

Hi, you wrote:

To what were you referring? I am not sure of the reference.

Thanks.

They are so scared about losing the Senate, they have been catering to the bare minimum. To not hurt our chances in Arkansas Senate race (and the like NC, LO), they have been not fighting aggressively for Democratic ideals elsewhere. Running away from Obama is a bad strategy. Even Red states have Obama supporters. There are Obama supporters elsewhere. A national campaign is a must to get these supporters to vote. If Democrats show timidity, many will be discouraged.
