There's an art to name calling

This discussion thread was locked as off-topic by GP6971 (a host of the 2016 Postmortem forum).

Why not a thread to discuss the names we call each other? Maybe it will work itself out of our collective systems and we'll knock it off, yeah, like that would happen.

The best examples have a grain of truth to them. I like Camp Weathervane. It's rather mild and highlights position reversals, which lately some could have caused whiplash.

But Bernie supporters seem to just get called Bernie with some syllable tagged on to it: Bernistas, BernieBot, and now lately BernieBro.

Really? That's the best you can do?

It shows precious little imagination, I have to guess that it takes too much imagination to sustain the notion that Hillary is who the country needs in the White House and therefore there is none left to use on names to attack us with. It's time to step up your game.

So both sides, what's the best/worst name you've seen used on DU and why?

I'm going to make some coffee, I'll be back.

1. .

Please, please, please, can we say that this OP is the absolute floor of the childishness that DU will stoop to? Please, please, please, can we all please read this OP and understand that this kind of mindset belongs on a kindergarten playground, and can we all have the good sense to be embarrassed and agree that no one will post anything this childish or, God forbid, more childish, in the future?

Please?

I truly love your op. Sitting here drinking my coffee and it was just a thing of beauty to read.

Members at free republic appreciate you recognizing their brilliance with Camp Weather Vain. They thought it was cool way before you did. Not a group I attribute intelligent thought to as you have done here.

3. There is no game to step up, That's why false victories about fictitious polls, endorsements and MSM

are all meant to divert long enough for her to slip in the back door, which is what she's done to get every position she's had since being a presidents wife .

4. We know you think you are better people

than the Hillary supporters. That's become very clear. You stick to your principles and won't compromise. Like right wingers, you believe you are morally superior. We're used to that. It's cute when you demand that we bow down to you as morally superior. Cuter than when right wingers do it.

7. we are just tired of wincing when Democratic candidates speak

we are tired of a party strategy that alienates the young by boring them to death.

8. The young being bored

is not the least concern, why would it be? Children often complain of being bored. The party is not here to entertain the youth.

11. That's a feature rather than a bug

Camp Weathervane needs the young and disaffected to stay home and not vote so they will do everything in their power to discourage those voters.

13. BernieBots isn't bad, given the incessantly repetitive postings,

whether joyful at good news or hostile at bad, that his particularly enthusiastic followers enjoy so much.

An article called Bernie enthusiasts Bernoids. Maybe this should be a poll and bernistas could choose their favorite. A more dignified name, like "Bernie conservative," "Bernie progressive conservative or liberal," "Bernie liberal," or ??? indicating where each supporter is actually coming from would be nice.

As for the other side, plain old "liberal" or "Democrat", or "progressive liberal," although that's kind of long, would be best. That's because you're unlikely to find people so fanatically devoted exclusively to ANY candidate, no matter how strongly some support one, that an identity based on that name would fit. (It's a liberal thing.)

14. And you think you've mastered it?

Yes, more coffee is in order.

Of course when you have dozens of others lining up to confirm 2 + 2 = 5, I can see where you might get a bit overconfident.

Too funny...
