Absolutely AWESOME Event today in Fresno (UPDATED)Last edited Sun Feb 14, 2016, 08:40 PM - Edit history (2)
The campaign conducted a "Barnstorming" in California's San Joaquin Valley this weekend, going to Stockton, Merced, Fresno and Bakersfield. They contacted us 10 days ago and we were able to line up a free venue, free video taping, free sound system, refreshments, Bernie swag and voter registration. We had about 170 people in attendance and over 20 people signed up to host at least one phone banking event (most signed up for several). A REALLY good cross section of ages, sexual orientation, socio-economics, and races there. We done good!
And some inside information: We're not even in Nevada, we're ahead! That's as per the internals. But we can't relax! If you haven't already signed up to phone bank, please think about it. That's how we got so close in Iowa and how we kicked ass in New Hampshire. Nevada, South Carolina and Super Tuesday's coming up so think about how you can contribute. We're feelin' the Bern! ![]() Here's a picture ![]()

3. Heard that yesterday at our campaign HQ over in Tennessee.
Didn't want to say it since I didn't actually see the numbers, but only witnessed the staffer looking them up on her computer (and telling me), but I'm glad you did.
I think South Carolina is going to start landsliding in his direction any day now. |

5. South Carolina:
He's gaining every day and she's losing every day. I don't know if it will be enough for him to win there but, remember, she was beating us by over 50 percentage points just a few weeks ago and we're within 12 now. Even if he doesn't win in South Carolina, if we can get within a few percentage points, that gives us an awesome momentum into Super Tuesday where she will NOT win all of the states.

8. We're closing in.
And this is only my personal opinion, but I don't think he'll get South Carolina; HOWEVER, if we get within a few percentage points that is going to propel us into Super Tuesday. The name of the game right now is phone banking. Check the Events page on the Sanders campaign website for a phone banking near you and join in. It absolutely has made the difference!

10. Great!
Would be nice if he can get it within 5-8 points. She doesn't deserve a monopoly on minority votes. Her policies have been awful for minorities.

11. This sounds like the event in Milwaukee last week
The organizer there said his next stop was California. He started by asking how many had come to volunteer for their first campaign or the first time in a long while, and about 3/4 of the people raised their hands! Very encouraging. Thanks, Fresno!

12. It was the same organizer -- Sam.
He said he was just in Milwaukee. He did the same shpeel with us. It's cool, it fired up the troops and we got 20 people to HOST phone banking events. It was a good day.

15. We did the same here south of Houston -
photos were taken so I will bring one over when it's up on the Texas for Bernie page. We didn't have quite as many but still a good turn out for this red area.

16. These Barnstorming events are so important.
It connects local volunteers directly with the campaign, it gathers contact information for area and regional key organizers who can call in an army of people within a few hours' notice and it fires up the troops. It is a simple but brilliant concept. And it's working!

17. We had 10-12 folks offer to host a phone-bank
and another local group that supports Bernie has already been holding phone-banking training at a local restaurant. A woman from the county's democratic group was able to have a moment to address the crowd, talk about where they meet, and encourage us to get involved for local dems as well. It was a very good event.
