Joe BidenCongratulations to our presumptive Democratic nominee, Joe Biden!

Would a Sanders Supporter Please Explain What He Has Ever Done?

During his many years in Washington, what has Bernie ever accomplished?

This is not an attack, just an honest question. I'm not aware of anything meaningful he's ever done other than give speeches.

Thank you!

1. Bernie had/has a great message.

We have better carriers of that message now.

4. here is a list for a Sanders Supporter...

run for president without taking Wall Street or corporate money,
run for president against the formidable Clinton machine
run as a Democrat without backing or support from the Democratic Party,
run in the context of blatant corporate media bias for Hillary and against him

Bernie has amassed a solid record on behalf of the Black, Latino, women, LGBT and elderly communities, on behalf of veterans, and on behalf of lower and middle income individuals and families. He has consistently given voice to those with less power.

1992: Congress passes Sanders’ first signed piece of legislation to create the National Program of Cancer Registries. A Reader’s Digest article calls the law “the cancer weapon America needs most.” All 50 states now run registries to help cancer researchers gain important insights.

December 2007: Sanders’ authored energy efficiency and conservation grant program passes into law. He later secures $3.2 billion in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 for the grant program.

March 2013: Sanders, now chairman of the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee, and backed by seniors, women, veterans, labor unions and disabled Americans, leads a successful effort to stop a “chained-CPI” proposal supported by Congressional Republicans and the Administration to cut Social Security and disabled veterans’ benefits.

10. Lol, "without backing from the Democratic Party?

Gimme a break. MY money to the DNC was allocated to provide as much support for his campaign as hers. Why the hell do you imagine he'd run as a Democrat if it weren't for all the benefits that come with it? And to put it mildly, I was NOT happy with what he used it for.

Too disgusted to read on.

here
The supporters want to block out 2015- nov 2016

We shan’t discuss his whole campaign finance history. It apparently needs hidden . People are very afraid of sunshine on his donations.

5. In 2014 while he was chair of the Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee

he steered a bill that went through Congress and was signed by President Obama. The bill was passed with almost unanimous consent.

Not many legislators are going to vote against a veterans benefit bill though. While Bernie may have negotiated for additional benefits, it is likely that a similar bill would have been signed regardless of who the sponsor was.

20. Still, it's one of his achievements.

We shouldn't minimize it just because we don't support that candidate.

I don't know much about Senator Sanders' work on Veteran's Affairs, so I am surprised he doesn't push it more as an accomplishment.

8. His contribution to the ACA,

while others were selling their vote for special provisions for their own states (remember the 'Louisiana Purchase' and the 'Cornhusker Kickback'?), was to insist on $10 billion for community health centers in all underserved areas.

He got it, too.

9. Here's a link that will tell you much of what you'd like to know

https://www.google.com

and save me a bunch of typing.

He's been an independent for decades so he's not going to get credit for bills in Washington.

Civil rights activist 1960s-70s
Liberty Union party leader 1971-1976 (running for Governor)
Mayor of Burlington 1981-89
Congressman 1991-2007
Senator 2007-present
So he's had about 48 years of political vetting

Too short of a summary:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bernie_Sanders
A self-described democratic socialist and progressive, he has advocated for universal and single-payer healthcare and reversing economic inequality. Sanders also supports labor rights, paid parental leave, and tuition-free tertiary education. On foreign policy, he broadly supports reducing military spending, pursuing more diplomacy and international cooperation, and putting greater emphasis on labor rights and environmental concerns when negotiating international trade agreements.

You'll find things like
"Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) was the most popular senator for the 11th time in a row."
https://morningconsult.com/2019/01/10/americas-most-and-least-popular-senators-q4-2018/

How Bernie Gets Things Done in Congress Without Being Bought Off
https://observer.com/2016/03/how-bernie-gets-things-done-in-congress-without-being-bought-off/

Books he has authored have done reasonably well
https://www.amazon.com/gp/bestsellers/books/5571257011/ref=pd_zg_hrsr_books

He's been advocating for many of his policies for decades.

I think he's influenced the Democratic party to shift some to the left - which I've appreciated because I often like his progressive policies.

That's a start
