Sherrod Brown Won't Run For President

I like Brown and he would have been on my list https://talkingpointsmemo.com/dc/sherrod-brown-wont-run-for-president

Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) won’t run for president after all, he announced Thursday.

“Being president isn’t something I have dreamed of my whole life or even for years,” Brown said in a statement. “My goal for our tour is to make the dignity of work the centerpiece of the Democrats’ 2020 campaign because I believe that’s the way to beat Donald Trump.”

If Kamala Harris should become our nominee, a "primary-enhanced" Sherrod Brown would have to be on a very short list of VP contenders. Still would be.

I will have to revert to Undecided.

From what I've seen so far, I may very well be undecided up until the nominee is certain.

Sigh.

I just hope that his "Dignity of Work" concept and platform are very high on the eventual nominee's list. It is important for winning the general election.

this announcement is a prologue to Joe Biden stepping in which will coalesce union support around one candidate. There was always the question of what would happen to Brown's Senate seat. From the man's own statement, he doesn't have that 'fire in the belly' for the job, hasn't "dreamed of the presidency his whole life or even for years".

That sounds like a reference to Uncle Joe.

That being said, I would have happily voted for Sherrod Brown had he remained and won the nomination. He strikes all the right notes.

He's going to be important (and I'd guess he's stepping aside because he knows Biden is stepping in)

but I am glad he is not running. We desperately need him in the Senate. That friggin louse Mike DeWine would have been able to name his replacement had he won the Presidency and we all know what that would mean.
