Booker: Biden's words 'causing a lot of frustration and even pain'

Politico

Democratic presidential contender Cory Booker on Sunday again criticized former Vice President Joe Biden's comments on race, saying the primary front-runner’s rhetoric is dividing the nation.

In an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press,” the New Jersey senator said the candidate Democrats nominate to oppose President Donald Trump will need to “talk openly and honestly about race.”

“I’mnot sure if Vice President Biden is up to that task,” he said.

“We have one destiny in this nation and right now the vice president to me is not doing a good job at bringing folks together,” Booker said. “In fact, and I’ve heard this from people across the country, he’s causing a lot of frustration and even pain with his words.”

talking points. It was bad.

That same day, Stations played and re-played Harris’s “gotcha” moment
and interviewed only those raising doubts, taking up Harris and Booker’s line of attack.

MSNBC pummeled Biden with critics just after Linda Flores claimed he mocked women and mocked consent with a self-effacing joke he made about needing permission to hug a little boy at a fire-fighting union members’ event.

I don’t know if MSM is Biden-critic stuffing their guest list or actually not giving air-time. I can certainly say they are not giving fair time to support.

Politifact found Biden's claim that "I did not oppose busing in America. What I opposed is busing ordered by the Department of Education" to be Mostly False.

https://www.politifact.com/truth-o-meter/statements/2019/jun/28/joe-biden/joe-biden-oversimplifies-his-record-school-busing-/

Sokol told us after the debate that Biden’s position on busing evolved but by the late 1970s he was decidedly against busing.

Biden’s claim that he was for integration but against busing doesn’t make a lot of sense, he told PolitiFact. "By that point in history, there were very few school districts voluntarily integrating by other means, which is why judges were ordering busing. He is using disingenuous logic," he said.
...
Biden proposed an amendment to prohibit the use of federal funds to assign teachers or students to schools based on race.

Biden said that his amendment would not preclude court-ordered busing, Gadsden wrote, making it an "admission of a certain incongruity between his legislative efforts and the concerns of his white constituents who were concerned about an impending court-ordered busing mandate."

He has a good overall record on civil rights but on the issue of busing he once supported a constitutional amendment to outlaw the practice. He defended those words when he needed to distance himself from those hurtful words. He still has not done that and that is what Booker is talking about. Last Friday I explained how easily he could have done that in this post.

.... is how many times I've heard Joe Biden's detractors proclaim that they don't want to go back to or dwell on the past, yet every accusation against Joe Biden has done exactly that.

Another thing that pisses me off is the fact that Joe Biden's political career spans twice that of the other younger candidates, and yet they seem to place themselves on equal footing when it comes to their history, and any negatives that may arise when it comes to their careers.

I'll never understand people who work so hard to bring down the person who has the best chance of defeating a repug. This is not me thinking I know more than anyone else. This is the opinion the majority of Democratic constituents have voiced.
