She was running both ways, and she looked so stressed out.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

How many of us have been on amazon at 6pm and saw that if we ordered an item in the next hour we could have it delivered to us the next day at no extra cost (well, aside from the prime subscription)? On the other hand I don't want to totally do away with it because I don't want people lose extra money they make on these gigs. It would be nice if Amazon and such companies could do it without killing their workers.

primary today, I would vote for:

When I was a junior and senior in high school, I had a part-time job. I delivered milk to people's houses every morning, six days a week. The delivery truck picked me up at my house at 5 AM, and dropped me off at my school at 8 AM. In those three hours, we had to complete all the deliveries. That was just barely possible.

That meant that I jumped off the milk truck while it was still moving, ran to the house, left the milk, picked up the empty bottles, and ran back to the truck, which was already moving to go to the next stop.

Was I stressed? Not after the first week. That was the job I had. I got $1.25 an hour, back in 1962-3, for that work. On Saturday, I also worked at the dairy, so I was working half-time for the last two years of high school. I soon was in amazing physical condition. I had more money in my pocket than most other kids at my school, even though 2/3 of my earnings went into my college fund. I loved that job. Everyone else worked after school. I was done before school started.

Delivery work is hard. It moves fast. Delivery people run a lot. It's part of the job.

primary today, I would vote for:

Amazon execs are. Not that that's unique to Amazon, just saying.

AI, Automation in general, outsourcing and corporate consolidation as well. Over my work years in Retail I saw jobs and work hours disappear as more and more jobs were chipped away.

In the last store I worked in we had one department with 5 people working (2 full-time and 3 part time folks who were working second jobs). When I retired some 20 years later there were 2 full time jobs in that same department as products were sent in on ready built displays, ordering systems became more automated and more work was simply dumped on those who were left.

primary today, I would vote for:
