Maybe it is time to start talking about that issue in their closet?

I think we can all be more understanding and begin to help break the addiction to having more and more and more money. Maybe using the word, "enough" is a good starting point as in, when is enough enough? We could then make it a multi-step program including ideas about interdependence, the value of the commons, no you did not get their all on your own, we hold that pyramid up, etc.

So, maybe the times is right. Addictions can be devastating to the people around you. In this case, it is your entire society at stake. Fess up and come to terms with it. When it comes to serious addictions, we don't need to moralize your habit, but it is vital that you ween a little off the hard stuff.

I believe at some point it does become an addiction but our cultural ethos promoted by our most powerful institutions have become enablers if not promoters of the malady and all at the expense of the public good.

That is what I would have said next. Thanks!

We are enabling them and it is an ingrained, cultural problem--one that could kill the culture and has done so in the past.

Thanks for your reply.
