I can't believe some of the posts I'm reading

People who identify as democrats are telling people not to vote their conscience but to put the party's interests first, considering the impeachment vote coming up today I find this argument very ironic.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:

The very existence of our Democratic Republic is at stake.

Trump must be removed. Literally NOTHING else matters in comparison.

if by "voting their conscience" you mean "voting for their prefered candidate" and if by "put the party's interest first" you mean "vote for the candidate most likely to defeat Donald Trump" then yes, that is exactly what I think people should do. If you vote for a candidate who has little chance of beating Trump, I hope that the satisfaction keep you warm at night as we suffer through four more years of Trump.

Voting blue is all the conscience we can afford at this time in history.

The entitlement of voting conscience will doom the country.

Vote blue no matter who.

13. Voting to get power away from the Republicans is THE moral

position that every other position of conscience depends on completely.

And next November either Democrats or Republicans will be given control of major governments, including federal. There is no other option but to vote Democrat for any person of conscience.

Speaking of matters of conscience and your own "can't believe," Ripcord, I'm wondering, how are you feeling about extreme, traumatizing cruelty to children as a national policy? Is doing everything YOU can to make sure that isn't restarted and revved up next year on your list of moral imperatives?

Since you're here, you probably believe in equal rights for everyone, including minorities. If Republicans regain the house they will continue to destroy the people's power to oppose and remove them. If our vote become a horrible joke, the white Christian male party will drag us into a post-civil-rights era of oppression and persecution (historians would say it's already starting with packing courts with bigoted and misogynistic judges). How will your conscience be with not doing everything you could have to stop what they've already started?

Is saving our democracy on your moral to-do list?

Trump still has several million brown-skinned people to exile from the U.S. If you don't do everything you can to make sure he and the Republican majorities are not reelected, will your conscience be clear with the horrific methods they plan to use and all the tragedies to come? Or will you say it's not your doing and blame the Democratic leadership for not stopping it?

Healthcare? Okay if the Republicans succeed in making national healthcare and madated coverage for preexisting conditions unconstitutional? Their getting another conservative extremist on the high court is not a matter for your conscience?

How about Social Security and Medicare? Do moral people fight the plans for "privatization" (another megaheist transfer of wealth upward) as a way of destroying these giant programs? Not a matter of conscience for you if a new archconservative SCOTUS just declares all such programs unconstitutional? (Far from unlikely.)

The first item for people of conscience is to vote morally. Being sorry too late is not a moral position.
