(697 posts)Sen. Warren has taken fire for having once been a Republican before becoming a lifelong Democrat. Bloomberg seems to switch back and forth as it benefits him over the years, which to me is much worse. It indicates someone that is apolitical and self serving.
About wealth at the $54B dollar level. How much was earned, or taken? How has he treated his employees? Why is there a Bloomberg news gag order on their reporters covering Bloomberg? Can't take the heat? Know too much?
There is a huge risk in voting into office a man that has a special interest group of one person and that person is Bloomberg alone.
You think Trump gives no F's about how people around him see things. Try a man that has $54B dollars.
Bloomberg could be of huge benefit to the United States, or a nightmare that would make Trump look lame. He could be of huge benefit without running for office by supporting candidates around the country. What then is he after and what does he see his financial payoff being for the hundreds of millions he has is spending?
Bloomberg as President is a very high risk.

Words like that have been used by authoritarians throughout history and help prove my point that Bloomberg is a huge risk to the United States.

(29,122 posts)I dont blame him for having that kind of money, just for hoarding so much more than he or his heirs could ever spend, when it could do so much good. He has given away or committed around $8 billion and still has around $60 billion.

(697 posts)So what? He has Billions (with a $B).
Take a million away from a billionaire, he still has a Billion dollars. Take ten million away from a $54 Billionaire? He still has $54Billion dollars.
Him donating millions is like me donating pennies. Seriously. Pennies. He can spend over a thousand million right now and not even miss it tomorrow. Pennies. Him spending 1000 million would be 1.5 percent of his wealth. Pennies, as in 1.5 pennies of a dollar.
When he donates hundreds of millions, or thousands of millions (a thousand million would be a single Billion dollars. He has at least fifty four thousand million, as in $54,000,000,000.00, or more to his name), let me know.
Otherwise I would like to know his end game. What does he expect for his "investment"?
I think Bloomberg is a huge risk.
I would rather have a President that is representative of the people and beholding to the people, not someone that if they went rogue could end up as an authoritarian without precedent in the United States.
Don't fall for the "I can't be bought" line. That is a risk, and not something that is good. It means he can damn well do whatever he wants, whenever he wants. without accountability to anyone.

(12,590 posts)believe he would win against Trump at this time.
The day will come for him. I even wish for a Bloomberg/Pete ticket but I know it will not happen now. Maybe Bloomberg would put Pete in a real post in his administration.
in the meantime. I think Mike would be the best for our nation at this time in our history.
