Amy, this is disappointing.

Ms. Klobuchar distorted comments made by Mr. Buttigieg about the impeachment trial.

Fact Check: Ms. Klobuchar distorted comments made by Mr. Buttigieg about the impeachment trial.

Ms. Klobuchar: “But what you said Pete as you were campaigning through Iowa as three of us were jurors in the impeachment hearing you said it was exhausting to watch and that you wanted to turn the channel and watch cartoons.”

This is misleading. Ms. Klobuchar was likely referring to remarks made by Mr. Buttigieg recently on the campaign trail. But he was criticizing Senate Republicans and urging voters to not “give in” to that sense of exhaustion.

“It can be exhausting,” he said of the impeachment trial at one January event in Iowa. “A process in Washington where the Senate GOP is telling us this is going to be a foregone conclusion. It’s almost designed, I think, to make us feel so beaten down that you want to just pick up the remote and change to cartoons because it’s punching you in the face all the time.”

“But if we give in to that, of course, that’s how cynicism wins,” he continued. “And the great thing about being alive and being eligible to vote in the year 2020 is that this is our opportunity to send a different message.”

Her main point in that comment was mainly that there were those who had worked to exhaustion for days.

Pete had time to clarify.

Looking at his entire comment, that really wasn't a fair interpretation.

What she said, is exactly what he said.

Not trashing your candidate, either of them could be my second choice, but she didn’t distort his statement.

is just that. Cherry picking.

I like Amy. But I support Pete.

Also one exchange, (I forget between whom) that implied Pete was making light of getting the turd out of the White House when he said it would be addressed with him and Chasten moving in. I suppose they wanted Pete to say he would go in, guns blazing, have him arrested and hauled away to jail, in handcuffs...? I may have enjoyed that answer (even jumped up yelling and screaming YES YES), but it certainly wasn't realistic.

Both comments were misrepresented.

Also, the moderator who was determined to get Pete with a "gotcha" question about the marijuana arrest frequency the year before and the year after he was elected as mayor. He patiently explained that, after consultation with appropriate authorities, the consensus was that marijuana crimes tied to violence would be treated differently than merely possessions. But she was having none of that. She wanted a black and white, yes/no answer to an issue that was nothing but grey. She looked like an ass.

NOW that this is exactly what DT will do in the General. You have to be VERY CAUTIOUS with everything you say because a whole lot of things can be taken out of context and used against you! I know, I hate it too, but that's exactly what DT does! I think Pete should be glad this experience cane from Amy. He can learn from it and if he's the one to go head to head with DT that knowledge will help him.
