That's how the MSM is: the Chump children (and Jared) have made at least $82 million by way of influence peddling since Cheeto took office.

But to look at the news media (except MSNBC), you'd think Hunter Biden shook Ukraine down for billions.

Not that many voters are aware of the very lucrative influence peddling by Jarvanka, Junior Mint, and Short Bus.

But the Hunter Biden allegations have nearly 100% recognition by now. You can't overcome that.

>>After finishing in fifth place in the Iowa Caucus on January 3, 2008, garnering only one percent of the total vote

>>Biden withdrew from the nomination race on September 23, 1987, saying his candidacy had been overrun by "the exaggerated shadow" of his past mistakes.[41] His formal campaign had lasted only three and a half months.

But I fear this Hunter Biden bs story is going to tarnish him like the fake Beneghazi and emails thing that hurt Hillary. They are already using Joe Biden’s adult son as the smear against Joe. It is being implanted into people’s brain and if Joe become the nominee they will turn up the brain washing techniques to smear Hunter and have that taint on Joe.

I'll keep going back to the Bob Dole comparison of a guy who failed to get the nomination multiple times and then the party more or less said okay we'll go along with it this time.

No excitement. Benefit of a doubt to the incumbent.

Biden would have won in 2016. That is almost certainly true. Now we're trying to fix that mistake. It doesn't work that way. You need someone dynamic to defeat an incumbent. A bold choice.

Plus he has aged quite a bit in 4 years. Let's not deny that. I think many voters who remember Biden from the Obama administration would be shocked to see him now.

Biden would indeed be a great president. I always focus on getting there. We'd need Trump's approval lower than it figures to be in November for Biden to prevail.

... if Dem voters overwhelmingly shift support to another candidate because they're AFRAID the fake Hunter stuff will kneecap Joe, then the Republican machine will simply work to kneecap the next Dem favorite.

Just an observation. Not suggesting any particular solution, cuz I'm not sure what it would be.

There is no candidate so irreproachable that the Republicans wouldn't make shit up about them and start making it stick with certain targeted segments of voters. Or, more their MO: they will ask baseless questions to make certain targeted segments of voters THINK there must be shit where there really isn't any.

Republicans accuse everyone of "fake news" because they themselves are masters at it. Deflection and projection.

I urge everyone to LISTEN to Biden's delivery, his rhetoric, the flow of his thoughts, the completeness of his expressions.

My assessment of Biden's appearances on the debate stage is that he's showing an abundance of eagerness that, IMO, is not helpful to those who are looking for one with whom to identify, one who is empathic. Another way of putting it is that Joe seems to be running on testosterone. Some like this approach. Some like a guy who tries to overwhelm and dismiss his opposition. For those who do, Biden's the right choice.

As a lifelong Democrat in my seventh decade, I also want to express my concern about ALL Democratic candidates who will reach their late 70s while in office. At risk of sounding bias against the aged, I think that the demands of the job requires a person at the peak of their intellectual powers, while having enough energy to go to work 15-16 hours a day, if necessary, then get up the next morning for more of the same. (That Trump doesn't do this is a strong symptom of why he's so profoundly incapable of performing the minimum required at the job. And why the "administrative state" is collapsing.) I think that Buttegieg and Klobuchar are at the extremes of the age bracket that fit for a high-functioning person in the most demanding job on earth.

That said, I'll STILL vote for any Democrat who is nominated. They're all head and shoulders above the monster in the White House. I enjoy listening to the debates because the Democratic candidates are ALL terrific people in their respective public capacities.

Listen to his rhetoric, his phrasing, his emotional intensity, the rapid rate of speech, the broken sentences, the incomplete thoughts, and his utter eagerness to brag about everything he's done and not done. It appears from my listening that Joe is trying to overwhelm everyone with his grasp of everything presidential, as if it's Joe himself who is crafting the image of inevitability as his own selling point. But I'm not sure that he's convincing anyone else.

The smears won't work. He has taken shots since day one and *derp* nothing has stuck.

I mean, appeal to authority does not necessarily mean Biden can win or is the candidate that the voters who are adamant about preserving our democracy, (first and foremost) feel comfortable with or are assured of.

So, that kind of rhetoric does not move me or sway my opinion since it is merely pointing to approvals without providing the information as to why those party officials are supporting him, which is what matters more. I mean, their recognition is not, nor should it be, a convincer. We need more substance than that over and above prominence and maybe some refutations or clarifications about the negatives that Biden has exhibited, and there are several.

....there was never any way that Biden was going to make much of a dent in either Iowa or N.H. Both are lily-white states that barely resemble the real electorate.

Watch Biden come roaring back in So Carolina and California. He'll be labeled as another (so-called) "comeback kid" who never really had to make much of a comeback to end up leading the pack.

Best not to be fooled by the sequence of primaries. Beside....we need JoB- -- gotta' beat the Hitlerian sleaze in the White House.

Predominately white and rural states, totally out of step with the demographics of this country. One in an undemocratic caucus which excludes wide swaths of the voters. Don't take that blip too seriously. The road ahead thru super Tuesday aka mayor from Indiana will get beat by Joe Biden. A lot.

(States not polled excluded)

Nevada - Biden 23.3% Buttigieg 7.6%

S. Carolina - Biden 32.7% Buttigieg 5.6%

Alabama - Biden 36% Buttigieg 5%

California - Biden 20.1% Buttigieg 7.5%

Colorado - Biden 25% Buttigieg 5%

Maine - Biden 21.6% Buttigieg 11.1%

Massachusetts - Biden 19.2% Buttigieg 9.5%

Minnesota - Biden 14% Buttigieg 7%

North Carolina - Biden 29% Buttigieg 7.3%

Oklahoma - Biden 26% Buttigieg 6%

Tennessee - Biden 33% Buttigieg 6%

Texas - Biden 25.6% Buttigieg 7.3%

Utah - Biden 12% Buttigieg 5%

Virginia - 29% Buttigieg 9.5%

Sun Feb 9, 2020, 10:21 PM

It's not the Ukraine thing. I think a lot of people are seeing through that BS.

It's the fact that Biden still thinks Mitch McConnell is going to see the error of his ways and start compromising when he takes office. It's that he thinks all the Republicans just "lost their way" when Trump got elected.

Nancy Pelosi said it best: "Democrats will never stop extending the hand of friendship to get the job done ForThePeople. We will work to find common ground where we can, but will stand our ground where we cannot".

For many Biden is not standing his ground enough. If Biden's message was more of a "We'll seek compromise to a point" there would be a lot more passion and dedication. For many he's still giving Republicans too much leeway and too many excuses for what they've all chosen to do.

He needs to stand up to McConnell and Graham the way he challenges the voters or reporters who question him. I think it would make a world of difference. They are the ones who are targeting his kid.

'Do me a favor?' Pelosi said, quoting - with a significant change of word - the president in his call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. 'Do you paint houses too? What is this? Do me a favor?' she asked.
