Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumI voted in early voting today in TN
I was supporting Biden but switched over to Bernie. As a moderate Bernie wasn't even close to my first choice but after looking at all the polling data I decided that he was the best candidate out there to beat Trump. He's been thoroughly vetted and has proven he can run a strong campaign. He seems to be making strong inroads in with Latino voters and young voters. He polls very well in the rust belt against 45.
I hope moderates take another look at him and don't get hung up on labels.

He will be the first one to disagree with you - your opinion, not your vote, obviously.

(47,264 posts)Sanders is the only clear non-starter. Its impossible not to regard the Vermont senator in a Trumplike moldhe seldom has shown an ability to build consensus and threatens to use executive orders extensively, just like Trump. Its also doubtful he could assemble a highly qualified Cabinet, meaning hed essentially be the left wing version of Trump: isolated, angry, unable to work with others and showing too little respect for dissenting opinions. A Sanders candidacy simply guarantees a Trump second term.

not fooled
(5,791 posts)The thing is, Sanders' and Warren's (my preferred candidate) positions are in large part simply those in effect during the years FDR's policies were in effect and created the American middle class and the "good old days" many Americans look back on nostalgically (not for everyone, people of color were not afforded a seat at the table).
They are not "radicals" as portrayed by much of the corporate media. Many Americans are being coached to see policies that once were prevalent and helped the nation as, now, frightening and radical.
It just looks scary to some people to take the country back to where it worked better for more people.
