Reports of the death of the Biden campaign have been greatly exaggerated

Joe Biden has blown it. His era is over. The obsequies for his campaign are pouring in. Michael Hirsh in Foreign Policy thus announced today that Biden’s vaunted experience on the foreign stage has turned out be a lead balloon: ‘It appears many voters across the spectrum don’t want a restoration of anything—including, apparently, US global leadership and the decades-old status quo that Biden is identified with.’

Maybe so. But to conclude that Biden’s campaign is finished may be wholly premature. For a start, Biden is in a place where voters may start to admire his gumption and grit at continuing a campaign that looks to be on life support. A comeback story, like the one Amy Klobuchar is currently enjoying, happens to be something that the media feasts upon. Biden could be next. With almost everyone scoffing at him as a serial loser in presidential races, Biden could be perfectly positioned to stage a comeback.

After a fourth-place finish in Iowa and fifth-place in New Hampshire, where he conceded before the vote had even taken place, Biden is fully aware of the daunting task ahead. On Wednesday, he tweeted, ‘nobody told me the road would be easy, but together we can and will win’. Biden is staking everything on South Carolina and his appeal — until now — to African American voters. Super Tuesday can go superbly for Biden. Right now, Biden is the front-runner in South Carolina — he has a 12-point lead — and needs to land a devastating blow against his rivals to support his claim of electability against Donald Trump.

one AA person who spoke to this support, only detractors. The same with women. And hosts can not abide him.

Any positive stories got short shrift. Spin was the order of the day and eclipsing Biden, even when he ran ahead for so long, with a roster of alternating rising stars.

Trump is dancing and never with such joy as since Dems are defecting to a man like him, Bloomberg, with the same racist attitudes, authoritarian tendencies, and a willingness to jettison the constitution and bill of rights.

He knows we will lose with Bloomberg and have seriously damaged our case against him.

Biden isn't exciting enough for the mainstream media, much like with Hillary in 2016. Everything with her was about emails and with Joe its Ukraine. They are quick to report his bad poll numbers, but never the good ones.

The media wants drama and excitement and they often create it.

It’s sorely needed now and Living in a past of Obama Invoking the Obama years is no substitute for a plan of action. The nostalgic haze enveloping the Biden campaign needs to be replaced with actual proposals and plans....

While in the past the nominee has been the winner of the Iowa caucus and/or the New Hampshire primary, it's not always the case - precedent is 1992. If this rule always held true there would never have been a President Bill Clinton - he didn't win either Iowa or New Hampshire. Joe might be the Comeback Grandpa in South Carolina.

Unlike Warren, Biden still has his must-win state ahead of him. Meanwhile, both Buttigieg and Klobuchar have very little support among POC.

And Bloomberg is just deplorable. Anyone supporting him should be deeply embarrassed.

but they didn't quite, so I'm still betting he'll eventually win the nomination. Every time I tuned in it seemed a Dem witness was frankly acknowledging that Biden and his son had done something shady if not actually illegal.

And of course Team Trump made the point loud and clear at least every 5 minutes. Did Joe have any defenders through all of that? Not that I ever heard testifying.

Anyway that's finally over so I'm hoping he'll soon return to where he started which was at the top. And if that doesn't happen I fear we are in for a very bad season indeed.

was not declared often enough or firmly enough, as so much focus was put on Trump's guilt. Then people would say what Hunter did seemed ill advised or inappropriate, though not illegal. Perhaps there wasn't enough emphasis on the fact that both Bidens were innocent of illegal activities. The Bidens' innocence was overshadowed by Trump's profound guilt, leaving some people to wonder if everyone involved was guilty.
