In March 2019 Bernie Sanders swore an official affirmation that he will run as a Democrat

and, if nominated and elected, serve as a Democrat.

He also swore to his acknowledgment that the Chair of the Party -- not Bernie -- will determine if a candidate has "established substantial support for the Democratic nomination. . . "

If he doesn't get a majority, and the party gives the nod to a nominee viewed as a uniter, we will see if Bernie is a man of his word.

ON UPDATE: The day before he signed this affirmation that he is a Democrat, he filed to run for the Senate as a Independent in 2024.

On Monday, Sanders filed paperwork to run for reelection to the Senate in 2024 — but as an independent. That's the same affiliation he ran on last year when he won another six-year term representing Vermont.

I've got news for the Republican establishment. I've got news for the Democratic establishment. They can't stop us.
If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

You'd think something like that would be frowned upon.

about whether he has substantial support for the nomination.

So if he arrives with only 30% of the delegates, and the decision goes to 2nd or 3rd rounds of voting, he's agreed to accept the determination of the Chair.
