Democratic Primaries
Related: About this forumThis deserves its own post. (Bernie's sex essy).
I'm not a Bernie supporter (unless he's our nominee), but I'm very interested in us Dems' holding on to clear thinking. Let's not get dragged down into out-of-context diatribes. NPR gives context to the Bernie "sex essay."

(9,946 posts)The sex fantasies.
Comments that old B* teachers are to blame for young boys failures in school.
Girls should ignore their mothers and give it up to boys so they do not get cancer.
Women fantasize about three or four men raping her simultaneously.
A mans typical fantasy is woman on knees and him abusing her.
I think that will be hard for some people. As a woman that grew up in that time, it is hard for me. I was listening to this back then. I didn't like it then, I am not liking hearing it now.

I am not thrilled with calling old women sexist slurs because young boys failed in school. I can just see Sanders sitting at his desk and glaring at the teacher for his F on a test and calling her that slur. Blaming her for his failure.

(11,330 posts)In a 1969 essay for the Freeman called Cancer, Disease and Society, Sanders, then 28, contended that conformity caused cancer by breaking down the human spirit and inflicting emotional trauma.
"What do you think it really means when 3 doctors, after intense study, write that of the 26 patients (who developed breast cancer) below 51 (years of age), one was sexually adjusted. It means, very bluntly, that the manner in which you bring up your daughter with regard to sexual attitudes may very well determine whether or not she will develop breast cancer, among other things. (3,268 posts)We need to comb thru every utterance from the first "Goo..Gah" of a months old Mayor Pete till today for any embarrassment and the result record will STILL be a decade shorter than the record of when the supposed Sander's transgressions occured. Joe Biden was supporting busing and getting tough on crime, Mike Bloomberg was an equity Trader for Salomon Brothers, and Elizabeth Warren was a stay-at-home Republican mom with her first child....It was 48 freaking years ago...
Perhaps we should try a quarter of a century ago Say 1995...Bernie Sanders was a second term house rep already raising hackles "During his first year in the House, Sanders often alienated allies and colleagues with his criticism of both political parties as working primarily on behalf of the wealthy. In 1991, he co-founded the Congressional Progressive Caucus, a group of mostly liberal Democrats that he chaired for its first eight years,[18] while still refusing to join the Democratic Party or caucus.[80]
In 2005, Rolling Stone called Sanders the "amendment king" for his ability to get more roll call amendments passed than any other congressman during the period since 1995, when Congress was entirely under Republican control.
Mayor Pete was still in Middle School...
Mike Bloomberg was a business owner....
Joe Biden was spearheading the Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994, also known as the Biden Crime Law, which included the Federal Assault Weapons Ban, which expired in 2004 after its ten-year sunset period and was not renewed.
Elizabeth Warren In 1995 left Penn to become Leo Gottlieb Professor of Law at Harvard Law School. In 1996 she became the highest-paid professor at Harvard University who was not an administrator, with a $181,300 salary and total compensation of $291,876, including moving expenses and an allowance in lieu of benefits contributions. As of 2011, she was Harvard's only tenured law professor who had attended law school at an American public university. Warren was a highly influential law professor. She published in many fields, but her expertise was in bankruptcy and commercial law.
Perhaps the final checkpoint is today...
Pete Buttigieg has grown to a smart viable candidate though light on experience.
Mike Bloomberg has been a democrat for months and months now and still has a fat bank account
Elizabeth Warren has transformed herself into our premier politician/educator
Joe Biden has recently "evolved" on the question of abortion and now supports right to choose
And Bernie, Bernie stayed the same-for a quarter of a century he has fought for the working men and women of this country. He may not be a genius but he sure as hell is stable and though I support Warren I could vote for Sanders without a single qualm.
