I think Sanders will surprise people tomorrow in SC

This is based on years of working campaigns here and conversations with Democrats all over the state.
Perhaps the strongest reason, and a significant factor in my final decision earlier this week to vote for Sanders, has to do with my kids.

I have three grown children, all married and ranging in age from 23 to 39. One intends to vote for Buttigieg, one for Warren and four for Sanders. They all say that a majority of their contemporaries who are Democrats are supporting Sanders. For the record, we are a white, middle class family that has been in SC for three generations, and there's not a Republican in the immediate family.

The strongest age demographic for Democrats are young voters. They are natural supporters of Democrats, but they are also not likely to show up to vote unless they are motivated. When we have candidates that can appeal to this group and to minorities we outvote the shrinking pool of angry old white folks that put Trump in the White House.

If I were to vote in a presidential
primary today, I would vote for:
Joe Biden

...if Sanders is able to stay within 15% of Biden in South Carolina. I think this is the turning point of the campaign and we are going to see a bandwagon effect for Biden pretty soon. I am wondering when some of the other candidates such as Pete, Amy, and Elizabeth will drop out. I would guess many of their supporters will go to Biden instead of Bernie. Bloomberg is a wild card here. Will he drop out? He obviously has the money to stay involved all the way to the convention if he wants.

I think Bernie will ultimately be the nominee barring something dramatic happening. Those are my tea leaves. He is probably going to have an insurmountable lead in delegates and I don't think the DNC is going to go through with their threats of denying him. With that, having made my choice and voted, I think I will back out of the DU primary forum for a while, it's going to be an ever-whirling shitstorm starting tomorrow through Super Tuesday and beyond and I don't think I want to be around.

But it has been the republicans who have filed bills the last 3 or 4 sessions to go to party registration and closed primaries, and the Democrats have managed to block the bills. They - at least the Dem House members - feel the current open primaries are overall in our favor.
Explanations I have heard is that more independents would register as Rs instead of Ds if forced to make a decision.
