Biden VP pick? None of the above....
This is only my opinion. I hope he looks for a running mate outside the field of candidates who ran for the Democratic nomination. Here are some of some of the reasons I have formed this opinion.
1. There are some candidates who I believe will bring little or nothing to his campaign.
2. There are several candidates that would better serve the country, and themselves by staying in the positions they now hold.
3. There are several candidates who would be ideal choices for key positions in a Biden Administration.
No, I will not assign names to these reasons. That's another can of worms.
There is plenty of time for Joe to decide, but right now I am looking hard at Val Demmings or Hakeem Jeffries as his running mate. My indulgence candidate? Adam Schiff. This may change as I delve deeper into other possibilities.

(1,086 posts)I disagree that anyone should be excluded and I believe a couple of the leading candidates who on the stage with him in the primaries.
I also think he needs to make the choice very soon after Bernie drops out. No waiting until close to the convention.
The country wants this down to a one on one as soon as possible and an early choice would do that and free the Obamas.

(25,183 posts)there is rampant speculation about which also-ran would be the best VP pick for the nominee. This flies in the face of the fact that VP nominees have rarely come from the candidate field, especially those who dropped out near the end.
Yes, it worked for Barack Obama to pick Joe Biden, but Joe quickly dropped out after Iowa in 2008. It didn't work out so well for John Kerry picking John Edwards who stayed in the campaign for quite some time after the caucuses and primaries started.

(10,451 posts)She was very impressive during the impeachment hearings. Plus she's from Florida, a state I would love to see us win. What a crushing blow that would be to the Squatter-in-Chief, Florida goes Blue.
Bye-bye, Donnie!

(1,089 posts)Presidential candidates would often pick running mates who might help them carry a crucial big swing state or a region...like JFK did with LBJ. Doesn't seem to be too much of that lately but if Joe was to do that then your Demmings pick from Florida would qualify, as would Sherrod Brown from Ohio. And maybe Abrams from Georgia.
Lots of other good names floated around but most are from heavily blue states that Biden would almost assuredly win regardless of who he chose. Nice to have such a deep bench with so many well-qualified people. Joe could pretty much throw a dart blindfolded and pick somebody who could step up and be a good POTUS.
As opposed to...oh, I dunno...Peckerhead Pence.
