Rep. Steve King wonders what ‘sub-groups’ besides whites made contributions to civilization

Source: Washington Post

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa) offered an unusual defense of the racial homogeneity of his party during a panel on MSNBC Monday evening.
...
"This 'old white people' business does get a little tired, Charlie," King said. "I'd ask you to go back through history and figure out, where are these contributions that have been made by these other categories of people that you're talking about, where did any other subgroup of people contribute more to civilization?"

"Than white people?" Hayes asked, clearly amazed.

"Than, than Western civilization itself," King replied. "It's rooted in Western Europe, Eastern Europe and the United States of America and every place where the footprint of Christianity settled the world. That's all of Western civilization."

The other panelists objected, with Hayes trying to keep the peace. Panelist April Ryan, who is black, asked, "What about Asia? What about Africa?"

In private meeting Trump instructs Repubs on hill to only say "great" things about him

“It would great if you could say we had an unbelievable meeting. ‘Trump loves us. We love Trump.’ It’s going to be so good. Okay?” Trump said, according to a detailed account from a person who attended the meeting. “Honestly, if we could say it is great, we have a unified party, I’ll tell you what, you are going to see a difference immediately. That’s what I’m going to say.”
...
“If when we leave we could just go out and say, ‘We love Trump, he’s going to be great.’ I love you, we’re doing great. As a team, we can’t be beaten,” Trump said. “Say great things, because anything you say that’s even a little — well you know, they magnify it. Just say it’s great. You gotta say great things. Any little negativity that you have, they are going to blow it up twentyfold. You’ve got to be positive.”

What? Isn't that how all the great presidents talk?

And he loves the Constitution. He thinks it's....great! When asked about his understanding of Article 1...

“I am a constitutionalist. I am going to abide by the Constitution whether it’s number 1, number 2, number 12, number 9,” Trump responded.

There are seven Articles and he's an idiot running for president.

The Speaker after the Say I'm Great Meeting-

“I thought he did a great job engaging with our members, and I think our members appreciated it.”

President Obama on the Fatal Shootings of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile

This is one of those times that hearing this president speak, I'm overwhelmed with the sense of bearing witness to history.

"There Will Be Blood"

At a Donald Trump rally, supporters call for the death of Hillary Clinton.

They’ve got murder on their minds now.

At the previous Donald Trump rally I’d attended, in Greensboro, North Carolina, Hillary Clinton was called a “bitch” more times that I could count. “Trump That Bitch” was the most common refrain. They shouted it from the rafters, wore T-shirts emblazoned with it. But at a rally in Raleigh on Tuesday night, a new cry rang out:

“Hang that bitch!”
...
Trump alleged that former President Bill Clinton had tampered with the FBI’s investigation, and that Hillary had used her position as secretary of state to line her pockets and singlehandedly destabilize the Middle East.

While Trump made the latter case, a man stood up and yelled, “Hang Hillary!”

“Yeah!” another shouted.

A smattering of applause.
...
Meanwhile, a man with a copy of The Art of the Deal in his back pocket was ranting to a local TV reporter about Clinton’s private email server. He said Clinton should be “shot, executed” for “high treason.”

The article details other times at the rally where calls for her death were heard.

Just look at this photo from another event held a few days ago.

The media has *got* to call out that kind of hatred and examine it, condemn it and discuss how and who should combat it.

This is all bringing back some really ugly and frightening memories, straight from the time to which Trump would have us return.

Biden and Clinton, ya'll

"I’ve known Hillary for a long time — from the time she was First Lady, Senator from New York, and our Secretary of State. She is a force of nature. She’s tough, she’s brilliant, and she genuinely loves serving this country. Hillary is the kind of person who, at the end of the day, wants to help people and make their lives better. That’s who you want as your president."

-Joe Biden

That's how that's done.

That's how Democrats do it. They support one another unequivocally. That's what's best for the party because that's what's best for the country.

And he should know, amirite?
