Poll: Warren tops VP appeal for Dem voters in Michigan and Wisconsin

A group commissioned a poll in two Midwestern swing states to test the viability of women of color to be Joe Biden's vice presidential pick and found Stacey Abrams as the top choice for black voters — but Elizabeth Warren as the overall candidate to beat.

If the Republican party was a functional, normal political party, they'd be demanding that Trump...

announce his resignation or at the very least, not seek re-election in the fall. They would acknowledge that Trump is unfit for the job and apologize to the American people for making him the nominee of the party.

This century is only 20 years old, and we've had almost 12 years of Republican presidents. In thos 12 years, we've had 9/11, Afghanistan, Iraq, Katrina, the financial crisis, Russian interference, bribing of Ukraine, and now the bungled response to Covid-19 which has lead us into another economic collapse and global quarantine.

What does it take for people to recognize how damaged this party is? What does it take for people to realize that the Republican party needs to be kept away from power until after some deep self-examination.

Alas, the Republican party is not a normal political party, and any attempts to work with them in a bi-partisan manner only normalizes them and gives them legitimacy.

Emergency room doctor, near death with coronavirus, saved after experimental treatment

The immune system normally uses proteins called cytokines as weapons in fighting a disease. For unknown reasons in some COVID-19 patients, the immune system first fails to respond quickly enough and then floods the body with cytokines, destroying blood vessels and filling the lungs with fluid.

The doctors tried a drug called Actemra, which was designed to treat rheumatoid arthritis but also approved in 2017 to treat cytokine storms in cancer patients.

A very inconvenient truth: American racism and our Social Safety net programs

Let's put the facts on the table shall we. For decades now, the American public, both Republicans and some Democrats, have used our soical saftey net programs, UE insurance, welfare, food stamps, etc, to demagogue votes from "real working Americans". We made it difficult, if not impossible, for people to qualify and receive government assistance when they lost their job or were destitute. It was more important to protect the taxes of the "real working Americans" than it was to actually help people.

Well, now that we're all facing the economic abyss, some of us are experiencing what so many of our unfortunate fellow Americans have experienced for years. Difficult systems to navigate to request benefits, and once they do arrive, they're so small and stingy, no one can survive on them let alone support a family on them.

We always assumed that there would be enough work for everyone and those that did not work were just lazy. We weakened our government assistance programs to punish people of color. It was good politics. It won votes. But now, we're re-learning the lessons of past generations We had these programs in place for all of us who may need them one day. Well, that one day is today.
