Pragmatism, "Half-Loaves", Small Measures, Policy wonkiness is how we got Trump

Yes, the Russians played a role. Yes, Republicans have gone totally to the darkside, etc. However, the real problem is that the Democratic party has not offered the American people a bold, forward-looking vision that resonates with the public through multiple election cycles.

Ask yourself, what was Bill Clinton's big policy legacy that Democrats throughout the country could rally behind?

Obama's ACA left a terrible legacy with one huge exception, selective expansion of Medicaid. That expansion alone led to a massive mid-term victories in the House in 2018. The lesson here is that the one big policy idea that the Democrats put into law over the past 40 years is what got them huge wins over the Republicans in 2018 and continues to be a electoral force in our favor.

Yet still, there are Democrats that still run on being pragmatic, go for the half loaf, etc. It's hard to rally people to vote for you based on "Pay-Go".

The Siren Song of early polls will sink a Dem's candidacy for the president

Democratic pols should not be lulled into making poor campaign decisions based on very early polling data. The campaign for the presidency has not begun in earnest, and once it does, Trump, the Republican party, and Fox News will do anything and everything it can to pull the Democratic nominee to same level as Trump. The tried and true, "lesser of two evils bullshit" that we've been dealing with since 2000.

Second, Trump's support is being understated in the polling data much like it was in 2016. People are not comfortable telling a pollster that they would vote for Trump, but once in that booth, voters, in particular Republicans, will pull that lever for Trump. For reference, see the Bradley Effect. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bradley_effect)

Finally, and this is the most important point, early polls may give the Democrats the idea to go for a huge victory by moving to the middle. This coming election is about who can get their base motivated and out to vote. Using polling data to go after moderate voters--ignoring the base--- will be another critical mistake. Trump's base and his party will show up to vote for Trump. There are no moderates. If the Dem base is not highly energized and motivated to vote, the Dem will lose.

Christians petition Netflix to cancel the TV show, "Good Omens"

Problem is, the show is on Amazon Prime:

More than 20,000 Christians have signed a petition calling for the cancellation of Good Omens, the television series adapted from Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman’s 1990 fantasy novel – unfortunately addressing their petition to Netflix when the series is made by Amazon Prime.

Wanna a real scary thought?

Just imagine the debate stage for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination. Imagine each candidate vying for Trump's supporters.

Sweet dreams.

Um, yeah, Trump has been getting assistance from foreign govts, info., money, etc. all along

Trump, and his family, have been getting assistance from foreign governments, information, money, access, etc., for the past 4 years or so.

But if the Dems refuse to open impeachment hearings on this, then he will continue to get away with this. Mueller has basically told you that the Justice Dept. will never indict him.

So why the outrage now?
