Let's better educate people at all levels
I worked in our local public library in the reference department. Way too many people came in looking intimidated, scared, apprehensive. In general, their fear seemed linked to their level of education (or interest in education) I can't help thinking that the vast majority of books make it past administrators simply because their lack of interest supercedes actual knowledge. If a book gets flagged by a zealot, who makes complaints to the administrator, the book will get attention and maybe banned because the zealot made a fuss.
I used to live in a small town and got books from the library. I read a novel with an expilicit scene about a woman who was raped by her husband and his male lover. I read another book with explicit scenes of torture in a novel about the slave trade. Believe me, if I had known what was in those books, I would have made other choices. They were otherwise forgettable. Some of my favorite historical novels have explicit scenes, but they are critically acclaimed and well written. I remember the authors and the storylines.
My husband shared with me that he and his friends used to go in that same small library and look at pictures in National Geographic of nude women from cultures that didn't have a dress code. The same library wouldn't subscribe to Playboy. I bet if a zealot found out that the boys were seeing naked women, and horrors! women of color, National Geographic would have been offlimits asap.
Curious minds will find a way. When I was young, I read books I found laying around the house. My parents had a grocery store. For a few years, they stocked paperbacks that were just awful. I got to read several and WOW! They were an education. At least it was good clean fun, compared to later reads that weren't

The far right, the anarchists, resorts to violence to achieve destruction of an ordered government. The people who took guns near a public figure were shown to be right wing.
My own opinion is that the events have been put together for show, for distraction. When the far right chooses to lie about every detail of every single aspect of anything they talk about, why should I believe that these gun events are not more of the same? I imagine it's pretty easy for computer geeks to make up an alternate internet presence so the guys with the guns have a plausible background, if needed. The right wing creates their lies from whole cloth and they've lied for years. Making up gun events with their guy as a target is probably a cake walk.
The first guy did better than the puppet masters expected and there was (possibily unintended) collateral damage This gun event was tweaked so that no sanitary pads would be required, but would still disrupt the current news cycle with credulous talking heads taking it as a real threat. Because the right wing wants a standing army they don't train, don't arm, don't support, but keep handy when they signal a dog whistle to action, there is a vast pool of willing and stupid and misguided Americans with guns, who will interpret what they see and hear in their own unique way and act accordingly.
I have always had a skeptical nature. The right wing lost any credulity a long time ago. I feel like the people behind our current ridiculous situation are all playing some kind of elaborate game where they all have access to tools for the game, and take turns rolling the dice to see which of them gains. They aren't playing for advantage. They're playing for fun. And the rest of us are living with the result of their wanton indifference.
I learned something today
I'm staying at my friend's house in the neighborhood I grew up in. She in rehab and not well.I stopped her house to drop off my stuff, then left to go see her. I saw a guy who I thought was a neighbor from way back. He was who I thought he was and we talked for awhile. He was my older brother's age, maybe in between my oldest and next oldest brothers.
My oldest brother and my aunt were killed in a car wreck in 1960, when I was 8. My brother was 16. All of these years, I thought my aunt was driving. He remembered the accident. He liked my Dad and talked him often. Regarding the accident, the neighbor said my Dad told him that my brother was driving. Somehow, the official story said it was my aunt and all of these years, that's what all of us thought, at least I thought so.
All of my family who might have known what version is true are dead, except my sister. I can't imagine how she'll take it. I have been stressed lately and can't process this news, just don't know what to think.
A rock hit my windshield on Monday
I am stunned, angry, stuck with the bill of replacement. But I understand it was a random accident.
rwnj/magats will use Madame Speaker's comment as proof that all of the indictments, both impeachments, any legal actions against traitor is politically motivated. But no, it isn't.
Like a rock to the windshield, traitor's plot caused immense wreckage, but that is the only thing the event have in common. The attack on the Capitol and the attempt to stop the certification of 2020 election results, was a carefully planned and executed plot to overthrow the United States. traitor didn't pick up a rock and throw it. He devised a catapult, got his ammo primed and aimed boulders at our country.
traitor would put a breath mint in his mouth before he assaulted a woman he targeted. He didn't bother to use a breath mint before his forces swarmed the capitol, swarmed the states, swarmed the local polling places. He asked for and deserves any punishment that will ever be meted out to him and his henchmen.
Every time I see another conviction of his criminal mob, I cheer. One of these days, it will be traitor.
Each of us should be aware of our
Potential. I grew up with the myth that girls were no good at math and science. If I hadn't learned about Marie Curie, or Hedy Lamar, Katherine Johnson, and so many others, I might not have realized I could learn concrete subjects and do well. What if every vestige of women's achievements were banned from schools?
On top of that, what is the psychological effect of denying the reality of ancestry? Probably a lot like denying orientation, ignoring personhood. People lacking validation of their race, denied, ignored, can rightly feel like something's missing as they learn about the world and their own possibilities.
I'm glad to know that students in Fl. have alternatives to public school curricula that by denying reality, must make at least some of the students feel disoriented. How can they learn anything if they don't understand what they are building on or how the education will benefit themselves?
I had a thought awhile back
Men won't go through the physical pain of giving birth and from the time people understand the entire process of pregnancy and delivery, we have to accept that our mothers suffered for us and we can never repay them for that suffering. The shame some people have for causing their mother pain can't be resolved and in some people, it turns into anger. Not to make it crass but how many people owe money and get mad at the lender because they can't pay?
Most mothers release the debt, or do the best they can to make their born children know they were worth every pang. Other mothers tap into the universal guilt and shame to keep an edge on their children, especially boys.
The unspoken debt we all owe Mom goes beyond the delivery of the born child. Maybe not so much any more, but the burden of care fell largely on the mother-feeding, cleaning, teaching, nurturing. The adult men who haven't forgiven themselves for the pain they caused their Mom might also feel resentment that Mom saw them naked and vulnerable. As a culture, we still teach men that they must be strong and able. Knowing that they were completely reliant on their mother, a woman, for their very survival, is going to fuel that unrecognized anger and once again, flip love and affection into anger and contempt.
We need to stand firm
Are rwnj attacking President Biden for policy? No. Are rwnj attacking his reputation? No. What are the rwnj attacking? President Biden's age and health. No one can stop time. Age is a lame attack. As for health, I've said it before and I'll say it again. President Biden is healthier for his age than I am for mine. At this time, I am the healthiest person in my age group of my friends and family, which is surprising me.
Why are we running scared? This attack on President Biden's age is an opening salvo. If Dems cut and run now, do you think rwnj are going to back off? No. If we back President Biden and weather this attack, rwnj will find another way to attack him, and they will intensify their effort. We need to be tough now, and get tougher for the wave of attacks that are surely lined up. If Dems force President Biden to accede to rwnj attacks on him and his health, rwnj will think they have the Dems on the run. And don't they?
I'm supporting President Biden. If he had said in 2021 that he planned to be a one term President, I would've supported any upcoming Dem candidate. But no one should expect me to stop supporting President Biden because bought and paid for media personalities are going way beyond their job descriptions trying to influence public opinion and change the outcome of settled primaries.
As I write this, I know President Biden was diagnosed with Covid and I wish him a quick recovery. Traitor had Covid and I didn't hear his backers telling him to shove off. Traitor is 78 and no one is telling him to step aside. Traitor is a convicted felon, a rapist, liar, and crook. I don't want him back in the White House. On the other hand, I would love to see President Biden reelected. And for the sake of our country, once we have 2024-2028 secured, let's work on getting 2028 and beyond secured. Traitor is old, but his crop of yes men are younger than I am. Stop them, too.
Let's try to find our courage and our resolve and defend our country against rwnj fascists.

President Biden was working on a ceasefire between Isreal and hamas. Making a deal to sell oil reserves at the best price for the U.S. Last time he authorized oil reserve sales, the deal made America a lot of money.

executive order calling for doctors to obey the federal laws for emergency care to save lives, including abortion care if the situration calls for it

Probably an endless list of other plans and actions we have no idea about. The sideshow on cnn was not a debate. It was like eastwood talking at an empty chair. President Biden was gracious enough to attend the latest traitor show. Because if he hadn't, you can be sure that the fascists had plan b, c and d ready to get to where we are right now.
President Biden is the presumptive Democratic candidate. He can carry the water. He can bring home the bacon. He can keep this together.

I have no regard for what rwnj say. But notice that rwnj aren't leading the mob charging President Biden.
I have no respect for the shills in the media are saying. They are empty vessels, and like most of us on DU, work for a living, and want to keep their jobs. I guess the journalists who wouldn't toe the line left when the drums beat against Ms. Clinton.
I am astonished by some of the Dems (?) who are trying to oust our President, our leader, now. If they were unhappy with President Biden, the time to replace him was before the last election, you know, the one he won. We needed President Biden then. We need President Biden more right now and into the next 4 years.
The frantic activity right now is to get President Biden out of the way, so that a traitor has a better chance of finishing the work he was hired to do. When President Biden wins in November, there will be another series of protests, another series of attempts to overthrow a free fair election. President Biden is on track to win the election with no question. It'll be hard to crack an obvious win. But, if the idiots behind the effort to sideline President Biden succeed, we might have a candidate that wins, but their victory will be eclipsed by a longer period of protests, more and different ploys to oust a legally elected President. Will someone who is not President Biden rise above the noise and get things done? President Biden has proved that he can fight off the rwnj and move his agenda. That right there is winning the fight with one hand tied behind his back.
Let's get President Biden reelected and see if our worries are based on smoke and mirrors. I bet that if President Biden is reelected by a landslide, a lot of the problems that have plagued our foreign and domestic affairs, the economy, the cost of living, the social protests, will subside. They won't go away, but rwnj will have to figure out what they can do. I hope they don't try to run traitor yet again. Unless they are gluttons for punishment.
If we vote for President Biden, and he wins by a landslide, it is not only a punch in the eye for the fascists trying to destroy our country, it is also a very loud NO! For our sakes, ignore the pundits, ignore the wannabes, ignore the Quislings. Get behind President Biden and keep your eyes on the prize.
