kentuck's JournalJuxtaposition - Kevin McCarthy vs January 6th Insurrection
Which is more important to report?
Are they two different stories or are they one and the same?
Are not the players the same?
Someone noted that McCarthy and the Republicans cannot manage a peaceful tranistion of government, even when they are the majority.
The former president continues to rant and rave. "I didn't do it and anyway, they deserved it."
I like to ask questions.
Could there be another reason, an ulterior motive, for the votes against Kevin McCarthy?
What would they be?
Do some of them believe it may offer some sort of legal protection from a subpoena or indictment?
Do they believe it might keep the Ethics Committee from doing its job?
Or do they just not like Kevin McCarthy?
Is there some other reason they are indulging in this charade?
What do they hope to accomplish?
If Kevin McCarthy had not made the trip to Mar-a-Lago?
Where would we be right now?
Would he still be the nominee for Speaker?
Would the Republicans still be in control of the House? Would they still be the majority?
Would Trump have already been convicted if Kevin had not made his trip to Florida and given him a new life?
And now he wants to be Speaker?
He says he has earned it and deserves it.
Does he?
How the media is failing in its reporting on Donald Trump?
Almost to a person, reporters will say that "Donald Trump is the odds-on favorite to be the nominee of the Republican Party in the next election".
And they leave it there.
They do not clarify their comment with "unless he is indicted for incitement of an insurrection or stealing America's secrets" or other possible crimes.
In my opinion, this is short-changing their viewers and the American people. They should report the full picture on Donald Trump, not just say that he is the "favorite to be the Republican nominee".
Anybody but McCarthy.
He's the worst of the lot. Democrats shouldn't think about Kevin as Speaker.
A 100-Year Malfunction
It's been 100 years since a Speaker was not elected on the first ballot.
Why did it happen in 2023?
If nothing else, it proves there are consequences to our actions.
There are consequences when a political Party attempts to over-throw an election and supports an insurrections against our governing institutions.
There are consequences when politicians lie to their supporters.
There are consequences when a political Party stands for nothing except maintaining power.
There are consequences when a Party follows a leader with no principles, no character, and no morals.
The lesson is there for all to see.
I smell an indictment coming....
Do you have that feeling in your bones that it is getting very close?
It may not be the one everyone is waiting for, but it is close enough to get his attention.
We are coming upon the anniversary of January 6th and it is an important date.
It's time for these traitors to start sweating.
Knowing with Trump, everything is worse than we ever imagined.
How bad is it?
Did he sell stolen secrets?
Did Russia advise him on over-throwing the government?
Everything we have learned about Trump, it has always turned out worse than we first learn.
Old Timey Blues
Shame on those Americans that would put Party over Country.
Even when given the opportunity to make a change, they stuck with their Party.
Knowing what they were doing was evil and wrong, yet they endured. They voted. They supported. They defended their Party and their leaders.
They cannot admit to themselves the shame they should feel.
They have done great harm to us all.
My New Year's wish is that we can somehow find a way to come together without having to pay too high of a price.
