Trump wants to retire the "Stop The Steal" slogan.

I heard this on one of the cable networks last night.

Yeah, I guess they got all the mileage they can get out of that one. It's time to find another Big Lie to wrap around the heads of their followers.

Everything gets old after a while. Obama's birth certificate had a good run and had to be disposed of when Obama showed his birth certificate. Now the"Stop The Steal" lie will need to be retired since the proof is overwhelming that they lost the election and there is little use in beating a dead horse.

What will they come up with next?

If their lips are moving, they are lying.

The "world's most deliberative body" ?

The US Senate.

Yeah, sure!

You could find a more competent and "deliberative" body down at the local bar.

They say you get the government you deserve. If this is the government we deserve, then we all need our asses kicked.

But, on the bright side, they only control 50% of that "deliberative" body.

On the not so bright side, it takes Democrats 67% to do anything about it.

Our IQs drop just thinking about these morons.

Can you believe people actually voted for these traitors?

I believe that the long arc of history bends toward justice..

...and if the Republicans do not vote for justice and morality, they will not bend with the arc. They will disappear over time. How long? We do not know. But, I have a deep faith that an immoral and unjust Party will not survive in America. That is just something that I believe.

60% of Republican Senators do not have to run for re-election for 4-6 years.

They must have long-range fear of Donald Trump?

One might understand if a Senator was running for re-election in 2022 why he might fear a primary challenge. But, it is difficult to understand how someone who doesn't run again until 2026 would not feel more free to vote his/her conscience?

However, fear seems to be the primary motivating factor of Republicans nowadays?

There is nothing logical or rational in their thinking or in their voting.

If Republicans vote to convict...

...Trump immediately announces that he is leaving the Republican Party and taking his base with him.

Is that what they are most fearful of?

That they cannot win without the racist, white supremacist wing of their Party?

But, if they vote to acquit, he will still hold that threat over their heads.

They will continue to be beholden to Donald Trump, as he sits in Mar-a-Lago. He will still control their Party and will determine who gets a primary challenger and who doesn't?

Will their Party truly be stronger with Donald Trump than without him?

That is the political choice they have to make.

The past is prologue.

Our present is defined by the context of history and the past.

But, it does not define our future.

If there is no accountability for the insurrection in our Capitol, then we can expect the future to look much like the past and present.

If we want to change the future, then we must change the present.

A point to consider about the mob that stormed our Capitol.

They came from all over the US to gather in DC at Trump's request.

They were some of the most vocal and active white supremacists and racists in our country.

Many have now been arrested and many more have been identified. That is a good thing. They are no longer hiding in the shadows.

The FBI now has enough information to mostly clean up this nest of vipers and blow-hards. Although I am sure it was not intended, but it is almost like Trump set a trap for them?

They can no longer hide.

And if the FBI continues to arrest them at the rate they have been, it is going to make a huge dent in the white supremacist movement in this country, in my opinion.

If there is anything positive that might come from this tragic event, this could be it.

Democrats should not forget that they are trying to persuade the American people...

Because the Republicans are beyond persuasion.

It is a waste of time and effort to speak to them.

Speak to the American people.

That is the only way to persuade the Republican Party to change.

How do you "unify" with people so empty of humanity and rationality?

How do you even associate with such people?

How do you compromise with evil and insanity?

There can be no unity and no compromise with such evil, in my opinion.

January 6th did not "just happen"....it was pre-meditated evil.

It was rooted in racism and division.

January 6th was not a spontaneous event. It was nourished and encouraged over many months and many years.

It did not begin with Charlottesville. Nor did it begin with "birtherism". Nor the "Central Park Five".

It came from an evil deep in the soul of America.

Donald Trump manifested that evil and he used it to his political advantage to maintain power in his quest for whatever he was searching for?

When he sent out his invitations to meet in Washington DC on January 6th for a "wild time", he knew what type of people would show up. He knew they had a tendency toward violence. It didn't just happen. It was planned.

As the House Managers so thoughtfully pointed out, he had run out of peaceful options to remain in power. January 6th was his last chance and it had to be violent.

It was a pre-meditated conspiracy to over-throw a duly-elected government.

It was evil at its core.
