Republicans are in full retreat. (Republicans should be in full retreat?)

They had all these grandiose ideas about how they were going to show their people "the other side" of the story about the January 6th insurrection. They created a Weaponization Committee to prove it was all politics and nothing criminal ever happened.

They called the Twitter executives before them to prove they were biased against the Republicans and supportive of the Democrats. That backfired rather dramatically. The exact opposite was proven.

The Chairman, Jim Jordan, doesn't have the courage to tell his people that there are no bullets in his weapon. He is shooting blanks.

Likewise, the move by Speaker McCarthy to give Tucker Carlson of FOXNews access to all the video files, was nothing but an act of desperation. They know there is no evidence to prove their case. They are only trying to kill time and keep the hounds from the door.

Republicans in the Senate have mostly decided to follow Mitch McConnell and admit that January 6th was an attack upon our Capitol and our democracy. Several of them finally spoke out in the last couple of days.

Republicans are backing themselves into a corner from which there is no exit.

The Donald Defense

I never had an affair with that Horse Face. She's not my type.

Anyway, if that story had come out in the National Enquirer or the NYTimes, I probably would not have gotten the chance to be your president. And that would have been very bad. Very bad.

Whatever Michael Cohen did, he did on his own.

And I want to thank Tucker and Kevin for helping me set the story straight about what happened on January 6th. It was just a coincidence that I chose January 6th for the Stop the Steal rally. Also, my speech was a perfect speech. I told my people to march peacefully down to the Capitol. A few of them got a little out of hand, but it was mostly a peaceful march, and if Nancy Pelosi had done her job and had a few more security people, it never would have happened.

Now the Department of Injustice and the fake news are coming after me. But I did nothing wrong. The people will not stand for it.

If someone says that "they all do it...they all lie..there is no difference"..

Then we must ask for an example. Some things are not so easily dismissed.

If FOX News is lying to its listeners, and they know they are lying, then what other network does that? Don't we have a right to know?

Especially if the lies are a threat to our country, which they are. Anyone that says they "are all the same" should present an example.

Otherwise, no one can give a similar example at this time.

No one else has been as reckless or as dangerous with disinformation as FOXNews.

What purpose would it serve if they were fined a huge sum of money and then, they returned to continue the same dangerous lies? Nothing changed hands but money.

The closer we get to an indictment of Trump, the closer we get to a domestic terrorist attack?

How many of the hundreds of insurrectionists are now out of jail? Or have served their time?

They fell for Trump's lies once. They would probably fall for it again?

The Boogaloo Bois are making noise about seeking revenge for the raid upon Mar-a-Lago. Whether or not these violent scofflaws will resort to violence, no one knows. But they have done it before.

Trump is a desperate man and the closer he gets to an indictment, the more he will call for violence against his enemies. That's the only game he knows.

Hopefully, both federal and state authorities will be prepared.

Lawyers, Guns, and Money

Whose idea was it for McCarthy to give access to all the hours of video to Tucker Carlson?

Did Kevin think it up himself? Was it really part of his deal to get the vote for Speaker? What did they hope to accomplish?

Or was it the brainchild of Tucker and his FOX executives? Did they truly believe they could change the reality that people saw with their own eyes?

What Einstein came up with this idea?

Who is running FOXNews - Rupert Murdoch or his son, Lachlan?

After the publicized comments by Rupert about the lies spread by his network, one might think he would hesitate to approve Tucker Carlson's efforts to whitewash January 6th?

But, maybe he is no longer running the show?

Has the fever finally broken in the US Senate?

It was surprising the number of Republican Senators that stepped forward to criticize Tucker Carlson's latest attempt to whitewash what happened on January 6th. Mitch McConnell was very upfront in stating that he believed what the Capitol Police Chief had said about what happened and not the lies of Tucker Carlson. Several fell in line to echo the Minority Leader. Thom Tillis called Tucker's report "bullshit".

For Trump and his accessories, this was the worst time for them to be deserted by the Republican Senators. It could give new energy to the Justice Department and the Special Counsel? If Republican Senators are no longer going to defend what happened on January 6th, that is a big development.

Trump showed his desperation on his Truth Social page. He posted a video of Hunter Biden, naked and with a gun, having consensual sex. Totally inappropriate and irrelevant. But, it does show the degree of his desperation.

Fishin' in the Dark

Is FOX legally liable for anything that happened on January 6th?

If they had not promoted the Big Lie, would it still have happened? That is an open question. We do not know.

If FOX had told its viewers the truth, would Trump have continued his criminal plan to steal the election?

If FOX had followed thru from their meeting of January 5th, to tell the people the truth that Trump had lost the election, would January 6th have been different?

Somehow, I feel that the insurrection would not have happened if only FOX had been honest with the American people.

In my opinion, they were co-conspirators in a coup to over-throw the government of the United States.
