Would an impeachment trial in the Senate be presided over by Mitch McConnell or the Chief Justice?

If presided over by the Chief Justice, could Mitch McConnell shut it down?

I have heard different scenarios, such as, Mitch McConnell could shut it down and not even have a trial?

Is that possible?

Because if there is one more serious charge made against Donald Trump, I do not think Nancy Pelosi can hold back the forces. I think the majority would impeach. But they are waiting on one more piece of evidence to buttress the Mueller investigation and what is already known. One witness is all they need. Or it could be in the Flynn tape that has been hidden by the Justice Dept?

Donald Trump's possible impeachment is hanging by a thread, in my opinion.

Normally, the Mueller Report would be enough to indict and convict...

...but after two years of discrediting the man and the investigation, the Republicans have made it more difficult to impeach Donald Trump on just the Mueller Report.

However, the Mueller Report could disappear today and there would be more than enough evidence to convict Donald Trump in normal times.

He has violated the emoluments clause of our Constitution every which way from Sunday. He is an un-indicted co-conspirator in a pay-off case in New York for which his lawyer is now doing time. There are many outstanding questions about his finances and just how deep he is involved in money laundering.

The Democrats have no need to put all their eggs in the Mueller basket, in my opinion.

When Donald Trump calls someone else a "nasty, vindictive, and a horrible person"....

The words lose all their meaning.

It's like in psychology when they ask you to describe your dog.

His name-calling and adolescent behavior has gotten very old.

How many people still take him seriously?

When would it be too late to impeach?

Is it ever too late?

If a president is found to have committed a crime, such as money-laundering, even one day before the next election, we would have a duty and responsibility to impeach.

After all, he is still president for two and a half months after the next election.

We do not know what might happen in the future? Will someone stand up and tell the truth? Will there be a whistle-blower? Will more evidence be uncovered? We don't know?

But, with the evidence we already have, investigations must remain open.

In my opinion, the official line for the Democratic Party should be, that the investigations will continue.

How strongly should Democrats be investigating Trump and his connections?

It is being reported that Adam Schiff and the House Intel Committee are planning to investigate the counter intelligence factors in the Mueller investigation. There were an uncommon and shocking number of meetings between the Trump campaign and Russian operatives.

Also, Elijah Cummings of the House Oversight Committee and Jerry Nadler of the House Judiciary Committee are ready to begin calling witnesses before their Committees. They are ready to subpoena witnesses and to charge contempt of Congress for those who refuse to appear.

In my opinion, the less they agree on whether or not there should be an impeachment proceeding, the more they should agree on investigating them on every aspect uncovered in the Mueller investigation.

No impeachment? No problem. We should investigate the hell out of them.

The Republicans should be thankful that the Democrats are not impeaching the criminal in the White House.

After election in 2016, my hope was to hold on until the mid-terms of 2018.

If they could keep the trump under control until Democrats could take control of the House, then everything would be much better. I never expected much more than that.

My major concern was the lack of oversight by the Republicans. It was comforting to know that would change once Democrats took control of the Congress.

In his first two years, the trump exceeded expectations with his corruptness and his lust for power. Not only was he disgusting, he was also dangerous.

It was no longer enough just to hold on until the next election. For the good of our country and our people, Congressional oversight was not sufficient. The trump needed to be removed. His high crimes and misdemeanors were on display for all to see. There was no reason to not impeach.

Yet, there was no consensus, not even in the Democratic Party. The Republicans had embraced the trump. in all his disgraceful gluttony. They defended him against the most obvious high crimes and misdemeanors. They watched him betray our country and said nothing.

Now, I try to return to my expectations after the election of 2016. Democrats are now in control of the Congress. After all, we now have some oversight.

But, it is not enough.

A failure of education.

A failure of civics. A failure of common sense.

Donald Trump sitting in the White House is a failure of all of those.

How could America fall for such a con?

How could they not know? How could they not see?

How could our education system produce such weak-minded sheep?

How could they continue to support him, with all the information that has been exposed?

Ignorance is not stupidity but it is just as dangerous.

If there was a vote in the House for an impeachment inquiry..?

would it pass or fail?

If Nancy was against it, I could not see it passing?

The question of whether or not to impeach is becoming very divisive for Democrats, in my opinion.

How much more do they need to see? How many more subpoenas do they need to have rejected? How many more contempt of Congress charges do they need? How many more crimes need to be committed?

Do they really want to put this on the back burner until after the election??

It will be Nancy Pelosi's decision.

AG Barr wants to make a deal.

If the Congress drops their plan to hold him in contempt, then he may be open to negotiating release of more of the Mueller Report.

I think it is time to get serious with these scofflaws. They should vote to charge Barr with contempt. He has been contemptible.

Also, those that are ignoring subpoenas, or following White House orders, should be given an ultimatum. Either appear before the Congress for questions or be held in contempt of Congress. Also, levy a fine of $25,000 per day for which they do not appear.

They can make their choice. Choose to follow the illegal directions of Donald Trump or choose to follow the law?

They need to feel the wrath of the Congress.

The Congress needs to confront Trump more about the subpoenas and contempt of Congress threats...?

They know they are getting nothing from the White House. It is a stone wall. They always have the option of taking it to court, I suppose?

The White House is challenging the Congress about its ability of oversight.

Maybe it's time to start charging all of them with contempt of Congress and fine them $10,000 per day until they show up for oversight questions from the Congress?

Maybe this is the type of confrontation we need?

In my opinion, the Congress has given up too much ground already.

Who are these people who believe they do not have to follow the laws of our country?
