It is in the Scriptures and was in a speech from Abraham Lincoln in 1858, when he was running for the US Senate from Illinois.

Furthermore, he said, "I do not expect the Union to be dissolved — I do not expect the house to fall — but I do expect it will cease to be divided."
...

"It will become all one thing or all the other."


Once again, the house is divided against itself. It cannot stand.

Unfortunately, this time, it is divided by political ideology.

With a demagogue leading this nation, there is no guarantee that we will survive.

The Biblical reference, in my opinion, is more accurate than Lincoln.

Matthew, 12:25: “And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand.”

Whether he will be successful or not, it is yet to be seen. But he has already begun. He is going to run against the "radical left, the anarchists, the looters, the Marxists" and he is going to try and tie them to the Democratic Party. In my opinion, it would be a mistake to ignore or dismiss this out of hand.

It will be interesting to see if the Lincoln Project comes up with a response to this despicable attempt by Trump and the Republicans to tie a few lawless acts to a majority of this country? There were many more peaceful demonstrators in the street than there were lawless looters.

But, it should be noted that words have meaning. Inflammatory and divisive speeches by political leaders have consequences. Donald Trump has failed miserably at bringing this country together. He has failed at every turn. His racist and divisive comments are not the fault of the Democrats.

Donald Trump and the Republicans are incapable of bringing this nation together. They seek to divide and then make political hay out of it. Hopefully the American people will be able to discern who is really the "law and order" candidate. It is not Donald Trump.
