About Me

This land is your land; This land is my land.

Trump was never serious about winning the presidency in 2016.

He was just trying to pad his resume.

When he debated 17 other Republicans, he just wanted to put on a show. It was all an act.

But one by one, all of the Republican challengers fell by the wayside.

Felix Sater, in an email, stated that he thought they might be able to get "our boy" into the White House.

Russia thought it was a joke. They were as surprised as Donald when he won the Republican nomination.

Donald was only trying to build up the value of his brand. He wanted to build his Tower in Moscow and donate the top floor to his hero, Vladimir Putin. It would make all the other apartments under Putin much more valuable.

He never stopped making business deals while he was running for President. He lied about the Moscow Tower, according to Michael Cohen, his fixer. It was in his blood. He could not stop making deals. And most of the people around him knew that a lot of the deals were not completely above board.

Then, he had to run against Hillary Clinton. Russia offered to help him in his race. Naturally, Donald saw nothing wrong with that. "Russia, if you're listening...", he said.

It was an opportunity that Trump and Putin could not pass up. They used every trick in the book to win the election. They tore down their opponents with character attacks and they suppressed the votes in critical areas in states that Democrats were expected to win. The results were above all their expectations.

Trump never stopped making his business deals with the most shady characters in the world. His supporters treated him like some sort of cult leader. They didn't care who he associated with or what crimes he may have committed. He put on a show for them and they loved it.

But, this time, it is not a joke. They are dead serious about winning the election. They expect to win. They expect to rob the Treasury of this nation and to destroy our democracy. It is as serious as a heart attack.

What does "without delay" mean?

Does that mean tomorrow? Or Monday? Or sometime next week?

Or when Mitch McConnell has the votes lined up?

If the process goes beyond a week, it will begin to look like it has been "delayed". It will look like Mitch and Donald do not have the votes.

Surely there are at least 4 Republicans with a spine?

Trump is a rather dumb politician, in my opinion.

By calling for immediate vote, "without delay", on a new SC Justice, he shows how arrogant and short-sighted he truly is.

If there are Republicans that really do not like him personally, but like the SC appointments, why should they vote for him if they can get their SC Justice regardless?

A smarter political maneuver would be hold off on the nomination and inform Republican voters that they need to vote for him if they want another conservative Justice. It seems to me that would get him more votes on election day.

He does not show a keen political awareness.

McConnell will not place a name for nomination unless he is certain of outcome

At this time, he does not have a definite count.

Expect to hear screaming and gnashing of teeth from the Republican caucus over the next few days.

If Trump does not get the immediate vote that he reportedly wants, McConnell probably does not have the votes. It is not automatic.

Several Senators running for re-election are put into very difficult positions if their votes are demanded before the election.

Everything hinges on Democrats taking back the Senate.

They simply cannot let Mitch McConnell control the Senate with the present filibuster rule the way he did under Obama. He stopped all of Obama's judgeship nominations. Until Senator Reed made the decision to do away with the filibuster for appeals court judges. That gave McConnell the justification to lift the filibuster on Supreme Court nominations also.

If Donald Trump remains in the White House, the Democrats must hold him accountable. If they have to impeach him again to get witnesses to testify, then so be it. Democrats must not sweep the crimes of Donald Trump under the rug. They must find the answers. They can only do that if they control the Senate.

Finally, if the Republicans ram through another SC Justice, we need a Democratic Senate to correct the politicalzation of the Court. They need to be prepared to expand the Court if necessary.

None of this can happen if they do not win the Senate, even if Joe Biden is elected the next President.

If the House impeached him again....?

And held up the Articles of Impeachment until after the Election, what would be the impact?

What if the Democrats take the Senate but Trump keeps the White House?

Could that be leverage for the Democrats?

I understand that is a lot of "what ifs" but it is not impossible.

Is that too "hard ball" for the Democrats?

Why Donald Trump will choose to NOT push thru his SC nominee at this time?

Make no mistake, Donald Trump calls the shots for the Republican Party.

Whatever decision he makes must be in the interest of Donald J Trump.

Uppermost in Donald's mind at this time is, what can help me win the election on November 3rd?

If he pushes thru his nominee now, there may be less incentive for some Republicans to vote for him in November? The only reason they voted for him the last time was solely for Supreme Court picks. He might actually lose votes if he chooses a Justice at this time.

Also, Trump understands that he is behind and he needs all the help he can get. Do Republicans want Joe Biden to pick the next Supreme Court Justice or do they want Donald Trump to make that choice?

When the political options are all weighed, Donald Trump will decide that it is in his best interest to leverage the Supreme Court pick to get more Republicans to the polls.

He can see it no other way, in my opinion.

McConnell will try to make a deal with the Democrats on Supreme Court pick.

It's just the way he operates.

He would like to get a promise from the Democrats that, if they win the Senate, they will not change the 60-vote rule for passing legislation. In that case, even if Republicans lose their majority, he would still maintain control of the Senate, even as the Minority Leader. He could freeze up the Senate just as he did under Obama for 8 years.

If Republicans lose their majority, the Democrats would get to choose the next Supreme Court Justice to replace Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

In my opinion, that would not be a deal the Democrats should accept.

Wouldn't it be nice?

If the voters of this country proved everybody wrong? The pollsters, the Trumpsters, and even the folks here on DU?

What if they came out in such huge numbers that they kicked the Republicans and Donald Trump out of all positions of power in our government? The turnout would be unparalleled.

What if the American people showed the world that they cared about America and how we are viewed by our friends and allies around the world? What if they showed the people of this country that they are not the fools that many believe them to be?

What if the people took back their country in dramatic fashion, with the biggest landslide since LBJ in 1964?

It would be nice.
