Republicans thought January 6th would have been forgotten by now.

Unfortunately, that is not the case. People feel more strongly about it today than they did on January 6th.

A recent poll showed 77% of Democrats and 59% of Republicans believed there was more to learn about what happened on January 6th. That does not bode well for some folks.

It will not be forgotten in 2022 or in 2024. They cannot make it disappear. It was a terrible and traumatic time for too many people, for it to be forgotten.

Eventually, the lie will be exposed. The truth will prevail.

What will the Select Committee discover?

That Trump solicited this mob to come to Washington and that he knew the make-up of much of the crowd was inclined to violence?

They Trump conspired with several sitting Congressmen to persuade these folks and Trump supporters that the election was rigged?

That it was a wide-spread conspiracy to over-throw an election?

That it was promoted and paid for by arms of the Republican Party?

That it was all a diversion and distraction from the fact that Trump and his cabal themselves were the ones who had tried to steal the election?

That the only grievance the mob had was that they believed the election was stolen from their Leader?

That they were not a peaceful bunch of people but were criminal in their words and actions?

That a criminal element had taken over our White House and our government and were working with foreign agents to further their cause?

That it was the biggest scandal ever in the history of our country?

What will it look like in the winter months?

If we are having a surge in Covid cases in July, what can we expect in December and January?

Common sense would tell us that if we do not get many more people vaccinated, it could be very, very serious.

Masks will likely be mandated, at least inside?

Fully-vaccinated folks may be asked to take a booster shot?

Schools may be closed again, as will many businesses.

We will need to come to grips with this pandemic, as a nation, and not as a political Party of one or the other.

From a July perspective, it does not look bright for the months ahead.

Did Aaron Burr create the filibuster ??

And isn't the filibuster a very "undemocratic" creation?

https://www.brookings.edu/testimonies/the-history-of-the-filibuster/

(snip)
However, when we dig into the history of Congress, it seems that the filibuster was created by mistake. Let me explain.

The House and Senate rulebooks in 1789 were nearly identical. Both rulebooks included what is known as the “previous question” motion. The House kept their motion, and today it empowers a simple majority to cut off debate. The Senate no longer has that rule on its books.

What happened to the Senate’s rule? In 1805, Vice President Aaron Burr was presiding over the Senate (freshly indicted for the murder of Alexander Hamilton), and he offered this advice. He said something like this. You are a great deliberative body. But a truly great Senate would have a cleaner rule book. Yours is a mess. You have lots of rules that do the same thing. And he singles out the previous question motion. Now, today, we know that a simple majority in the House can use the rule to cut off debate. But in 1805, neither chamber used the rule that way. Majorities were still experimenting with it. And so when Aaron Burr said, get rid of the previous question motion, the Senate didn’t think twice. When they met in 1806, they dropped the motion from the Senate rule book.

Misinformation vs Disinformation ?

What is the difference?

Is "misinformation" simply propagating information that is factually wrong, whether intentional or by mistake?

What is "disinformation"? Is it information that is propagated with the intention of manipulating the truth to further some political agenda?

It seems to me that we get a lot of both? I suppose the trick is to know which is which?

My bet is that Trump is chewing out McCarthy's ass today.

What are you doing, Kevin !?

By removing everyone from the Committee, there will be no one on there to defend me! Are you crazy?!

They will be getting all the PR and I will be getting none!

Maybe you're not smart enough to be Speaker?

July 22, 2021

It's July 22nd, 2021 and Republicans are finally telling their people to get vaccinated.

Almost a year and a half after the first case of coronavirus, they finally feel the need to tell their supporters that they should get a vaccine shot.

After months and months of criticizing the masks and those that wear them, it is no longer such a novel and political idea. It is no longer called a "hoax".

Overnight, like the wind changing directions, they changed their minds. Perhaps they saw the stats where 99% of the people now being hospitalized are unvaccinated. These are mostly their supporters. Not a good view come election time.

Better late than never. But, for many, it may be too late. A death cult has its price.

Democrats should make a deal with Liz Cheney...

...to reward her for her courage, if the Republicans take back the House?

What type of low-life would put Donald Trump above our country and above our Constitution and above the truth? One type would be Kevin McCarthy.

If, God forbid, the Republicans take back the Congress next year, the Democrats should make a deal with Liz. Since it will be obvious that a Democrat will not be Speaker if Republicans win, why not agree to support Liz Cheney over Kevin McCarthy?

Is there a rule that says you have to vote for the person of your Party only?

Who is Thomas Barrack and how close is he to Donald Trump?

As you may have noticed, those that are closest to Trump business deals are seldom in the public eye, and he never mentions their names?

It is reported that Thomas Barrack has been Trump's close friend for thirty years. He was second to Ivanka to speak at the Inauguration.

It is alleged that he got $1.5 Billion lobbying for the U.A.E. and the Saudis, after his stint as head of the Inauguration Committee. (There have been questions about the tens of millions of dollars that was raised for the Inauguration and how much went into the pockets of a few individuals?)

It is difficult to imagine all those loose dollars flying around and Donald Trump not getting his cut? When he made his "Muslim ban", he did not include U.A.E or Saudi Arabia on it. That was noteworthy at the time.

Thomas Barrack was a shady character from the beginning. He entered into the Trump inauguration plans, with not much known about him, much like Paul Manafort, another questionable individual. Later, he lied to the FBI about his lobbying efforts for U.A.E and the Saudis. That is one of the reasons he was arrested.

There is still a lot we do not know about this story.

The Republicans on the Select Committee are not out to find the truth about January 6th...

They are there to defend Donald Trump.

If they are not prepared to get to the truth, all the truth, they should not be on the Committee.

It doesn't matter if they are Democrats or Republicans. It should not be partisan.

If they cannot do that simple job, then perhaps they should withdraw from the Committee?

That is not the place for partisan division.

I suppose that may be asking too much?
